Not swapping gifts is not an option.

One sister has a family 6,
One sister has a family of 3,
one is a family of one,

My family has a Christmas ritual where someone is picked to get a large, extravagantly-wrapped box, with a small block of coal inside. ;P Last year was my turn....So, what good gag gifts have you recieved or given?

Christmas is coming up... What are some good gift ideas to give to a married couple who have everything? Nothing too pricey. I don't want to give them a gift card to restaurants, walmart, target or lowes. Already did that for their birthdays last month.

Some churches have a 4 ft. tree in the back of the church and have papers with a childs name on it or an adult who is in need...
For those interested , they can pick a name and inside the paper is mentioned what that person needs or wants....It might be a dinner for christmas. or a robe, or some slippers, or a toy....Or a gift for someone else.....Some churches do the shoe box idea where they decorate a shoe box and put toys, pencils, cards, socks...they fill it up for the children of the church with a tag that says girl, and the age or boy, etc...Or they send it to people in need in the apalachians, or somewhere...Good idea

I am on a committee for a hospice memorial in December. In the past they have had a bell with the name of the deceased to be placed on the tree. Does anyone have an inexpensive idea for ornaments--maybe with angels or doves? There is usually a reading remembering those who passed away. Any ideas on that? (Last year it was about a bell ringing for each new angel.)Also, we need an appropriate song to be sung and an instrumental piece. Any help is appreciated.

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs, and I would love to know the origin, what all the lyrics are and any other info, including who might sing it. I have only heard it on a Hosanna Christmas album and by Manhiem Steamroller, which was just the music.
Thanks.

every year I set up a christmas mission for my 2 little sisters. On christmas eve they get to sneak downstairs to see what "santa" brought and they get to look for clues that "santa" was here. it has been something i do for them every year. they love it. my question is, what else could we do on christmas eve to celebrate "the mission" ? any craft ideas? stories? anything?

Christmas is just around the corner and I have no interest in buying gifts for people. I love to shop, but I have had major financial problems this year. I hate getting into drastic debt or taking myself down to the last dollar each year. It is not only the money issues, but I hate trying to be mind readers with people. I take time and effort trying to find gifts people like and can use, but with some people that is impossible. I just always wondered how often people take things back or use gift receipts. In recent years, I started to give gift cards and people also give me gift cards, but in a way, it is pointless...like everyone is just passing money around. Throughout the years, I also made homemade gifts such as scrapbooks and memorable pictures with nice frames, but I know some members of my family are so cluttered with stuff that they don't have room to even display that type of stuff. I guess my question is: How do I get my family members to not go crazy with xmas shopping?
