Absolutely!
I understand about the Angel Tree.
Probably one of the most rewarding things a child can do is give to a child who is less fortunate.
A few places to start would either be the Children's Hospital or a local children's home, you could also try the YMCA.
Toys for Tots is also a famous, reputable organization.

Contact local churches. We used to fill a shoe box up with stuff you can find from dollar stores and then we would wrap it. Make the box for either a boy or a girl. Churches might be able to give you a list of some needy family programs.

Well they are the ones that will live with gilt knowing they don't need the hand out. You know in your heart what you are doing. Maybe you can hand deliver your gift to the people. Ask about it. Your kids will learn a lot from what you are doing. Children now days are selfish and do not get that you have to give to get back. Good luck.

Call some of the local Churches and see if they know anyone in need, or if they have a program to help the needy. Several churches do have some sort of program, and they're legit. Also, call local nursing homes, and animal shelters.

Try toys for tots. It's run by the United States Marine Corps. It's a great program. I give every year.

visit an inner city church if you want poverty.i went to memphis tenn to an inner city church and i was freaked out bars on windows and doors. even the church had been broken into.the plates used for communion had been stolen.i had an opportunity to talk with the pastor who is a great friend and he and his wife adopted a 4 year old who saw her mother murdered.this has been years ago but the effect of the trip is still fresh. make sure your children know why they are helping needy children so they will remember how blessed they really are.GOD bless you and keep you safe.

Are you children old enough to Join 4-H? when I was young we as a group would go to shutins in the neighborhood and sing christmas carols. We kids liked to get together and the shutins would enjoy watching us squirm about and sing... Might be a church group or something out there as well...

Maybe the local church has something, like caroling for shut-ins and the elderly. And usually bring a little baked goodie along for them. I did that as a kid in a rural town through my church.
If you ask your minister and they've never done that, maybe organize one! It might give him or her an idea!

Have them pick out toys to give to toys for tots. Tell them they are going shopping for others and can chose something they themselves would like (it'll give you some ideas too if they have not let you know what they really like).
