and the persons name is Michael C. Carlisle, in what order would I have the initials, traditionally?

Oh -- you mean monogrammed.

M C C -- last name can go in the middle or the end. But, since both the middle name and the last name start with the same letter, it really is not much of an issue.

When you monogram an item the person who does this job will have sugustions on how to make the monogram unique. So that the initials M.C.C will be designed in a creative way or the old standard initials. here is a site with sample of diffrent styles

Depending on the type of monogram you have, the letters could be in "normal" order or the first letter of the last name could be in the middle and larger than the other two letters.

The person who does the monograming can tell you how they should be, depending on the style you pick out.

It doesnt matter much, I perfer tradionally though, but do what oyou like , doesnt matter much since 2 of his intials are the same.

Everyone is right... typically it is

MCC -- first last middle

HOWEVER... you could do CMC -- middle first last. That might look a little better.

It's whatever you think will look best...
