Holidays - November 2007

I have finally realized as an adult, that I cannot consider myself a Christian, as a child I came from a Christian family and of course we always celebrated Christmas, so I guess it is ingrained in me. I really don't think about the religious meaning behind it, I just enjoy the lights, the coming together of friends and family. I love giving people gifts. I like throwing and attending parties. (I am this way all year round really).
I guess I wonder if I should be doing this even though I am not a Christian?
I don't see why not.
Anyone else out there feel the same?

I absolutely love Christmas and i am getting sick and tired of people trying to put a downer on it! All this nonsense of upsetting people of other religions, its so not true, i went to a school where 80% of the children were from a different religion, mainly muslim, and they were the nicest of people. They wanted to know about it and even used to give me a card and a little present! And about being commercialised and not about the religious part anymore, well talk for yourselves, i am catholic and celebrate xmas for the right reason and i've made sure my children know what is meant to be about! I also know what is like to be sad as i lost my mum around xmas time a few years back so its not as if i dont know what its like to have a bad year. If all this comments were being said about a different religious festival, they would be classed as racist. So why is it ok for people to say things like that about xmas? Do you love or hate it? And why? And i want a good reason if you dont!!

the more ppl want to discover the light in islam? i mean, islam is portrayed as the worst religion ever, yet we have the most reverts. y? b/c the more ppl see all this false propaganda, the more they read the Quran and discover the truth!

He said that I can't put it up this year because he thinks our son will pull it over. I think that if we pay close enough attention it should be fine. I don't want to fight about it, but I do think that we should have a tree, especially with a little boy..my sister already has hers up and he loves it! I'm just aggravated because when I mention lights or anything about our tree to someone he says, "I already said we're not putting the tree up this year" like I have no say whatsoever.
