I agree with you 100%. New reverts are saying too. Since 9/11 more Christians have been equiring about Islam and converting as well. Allah converts false propaganda into increased curiosity in the minds of non-Muslims and draws them to Islam when they learn the facts by reading Islmic web sites on internet.

Fast-growing Islam winning converts in Western world

CAIRO (CNN) -- In the port city of Suez -- and across the Islamic world -- they are celebrating the Hajj, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

"This is a joyous day and the best day in the life of a man," said pilgrim Hussein Suleiman Hussein. "It is as if I am being born anew."

(1.1M/31 sec. QuickTime movie)

Millions of Muslims across the world will trek to Mecca this week for the annual religious event. They circle the Kaaba, a shrine that contains a black stone sacred to the Prophet Mohammed.

Mohammed decreed that every Muslim who can afford it make the Hajj at least once. It is one of five holy duties required in Islam.

A Muslim's first duty is to proclaim that there is only one God and that Mohammed is his prophet. Muslims also must pray five times a day, give charity to the poor and fast during the daylight hours of the holy month of Ramadan.

When a cannon signals that the sun has set during Ramadan, Muslims in Cairo break their fast with friends and family, often inviting the poor to share their meals.

Fastest-growing religion

The second-largest religion in the world after Christianity, Islam is also the fastest-growing religion. In the United States, for example, nearly 80 percent of the more than 1,200 mosques have been built in the past 12 years.

Some scholars see an emerging Muslim renaissance as Islam takes root in many traditionally Christian communities.

Islam has drawn converts from all walks of life, most notably African-Americans. Former NAACP President Benjamin Chavis, who joined the Nation of Islam recently, personifies the trend.

"In societies where you have minorities that are discriminated against, I think they may find an appeal in Islam," said Waleed Kazziha of American University in Cairo.

Many moderate Islamic countries such as Turkey and Egypt are becoming more conservative.

Two decades ago, few middle-class Egyptian women wore scarves or veils on their heads. Now they crowd into special emporiums that advertise Islamic clothing.

The shift toward Islamic fundamentalism worries many in the secular world, a fear underscored when splinter groups target Westerners with violent attacks.

Islam vs. the West

But most scholars argue that the extremists are a very small minority and that most Muslims adhere to principles in the Koran that teach peace and tolerance.

"The Islamic world is like any other society we have known in history," said Kazziha. "You might say it has the good, the bad and the ugly."

Founded in 622 A.D., Islam is among the newer major religions. But to the non-Muslim world, it sometimes appears inflexible. Clashes between Islamic tradition and Western influence are sweeping the globe.

In Islam, contrary to Western beliefs, the rights of the community are considered more important than the rights of the individual. Women are seen primarily as caretakers of the home, and religion strongly influences schools, government and courts.

Many Muslims today are trying to find a balance between being members of a global society and maintaining ties to a religion that calls for strict adherence to the Koran.

A case in point is 35-year-old Hisham Hussein, a wealthy playboy who turned to religion and swore off alcohol after an automobile accident.

He is going to Mecca this spring. "The most important thing is to maintain the purity of the Hajj, to lead a pure life," he said.

I agree, thats True! and its not about the ego or something of any person , its to find the right path. Even I hate so many SO CALLED MUSLIMS like talibans, terrorists, they are not muslims in my sight. People always fail to understand the right and wrong of any religion. They all see the negative impact of Islam but fails to understand the logic behind it.

When we can loves jesus, then why can't they love Muhammad? we respect all of our messengers, But why do they fail to accept it? ... Lets keep the story concise, and sooner or later people will realize. We respect Bible, BUT THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY VERSIONS OF BIBLE that its hard to find the correct one. THEY ELIMINATE what they believe would get harder for them to follow. And this is not what m saying, these are the words of Muslim and many Christians scholars. Who did admit the fact. lolz... Forget it,

Dear,

If I may be allow to say. Firstly let tell the people out there what is "THE HOLY QURAN''.

HOLY QURAN is a Scripture by God to his beloving last prophet and messenger Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah. Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah s.a.w., who does not know how to read and write. All verses in the Holy Quran are been memorise by prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah s.a.w., by Gabreil to prophet Muhammad from Al-Mighty God Allah SWT. These words the verses of The Holy Quran from the mouth of prophet Muhammad are written on Animals skin and leaves by his followers. The third Calif of Islam Saidina Othman bin Arfan collect and make into book Scriptures The Holy Quran through the animal skin, leaves and followers that memories the verses from the mouth of the prophets. Until today the Holy Quran are memories and not a single word from the verses been change from the mouth of prophets Muhammad. We Muslim knows what are in all Scriptures before Islam.

In the Holy Quran, all verses from Sciptures-Judaism-Bible-Moses, Scipsture-Zabur-David and Scipstures-Bible-(Injeel-Matius,Yuhanus,Luqus, Marqus and Barnabas)-Jesus. To prove evident that the verses in the Bible are in the Holy Quran the Christian King Najasyi from Abysinia Said "Let us hear something of the Qu'ran that your Prophet has taught you". Hadh Ja'far recited a few verses from the biginning of Surah "MARYAM", which touched the hearts of the king and the priestly class so much that tears flowed down their cheeks and wetted their beards. The king remarked. "By Allah, these words revealed to Moosa are the rays of one and the same light. We believe in what Allah has revealed about him to our Prophet i.e he is a servant and prophet of Allah, and is His word, which He conveyed to the virgin and pure Maryam". The King said "Isa himself does not say anything beyond that".

You're true, the more they false propaganda on Islam and the more they read the Holy Qu'ran, THEY WILL DISCOVER THE TRUTH. Islam is a complete religion said by Al-Mighty God ALLAH. God have not said to Judaism, David's religion and Christianity. Islam is not to be compare with any other religions.

Salam

Al hamdoullah sister, inshAllah with information running at all time high that many will find the truth if they are in good intentions inshAllah amin.

Peace to you and yours and inshAllah your well and have found a way to deal with all that negative force. Its truly sad when we have lost ability for freedom through peaceful rights and dialog with privileges that we have acquired through years of oppression. And most of it from ourselves and that is the very sad part of it all.

YES! It disgusts me when people say they want to get to know our religion, but they won't take 2 seconds out of there day to truly understand it. They are passing judgement, and Islam is against that.

btw, lynn, that is what the question is talking about. You see all the false propaganda (i.e. pictures of places in muslim countries destroyed by bombs) and you think that every muslim is like that. They are not.

Yes, and this actually led some to convert

I came to Islam after reading the books written against Islam. I felt that these writers feared the dynamism of Islam. They put it to utter disgrace because they feared it.
