I have finally realized as an adult, that I cannot consider myself a Christian, as a child I came from a Christian family and of course we always celebrated Christmas, so I guess it is ingrained in me. I really don't think about the religious meaning behind it, I just enjoy the lights, the coming together of friends and family. I love giving people gifts. I like throwing and attending parties. (I am this way all year round really).
I guess I wonder if I should be doing this even though I am not a Christian?
I don't see why not.
Anyone else out there feel the same?

I am an atheist and enjoy Christmas thoroughly! (We have a solstice bush and send out winter greetings.) I also collect tree ornaments and decorate the entire house. The winter holiday is pagan in origin, so as far as I am concerned, we all should be able to enjoy it.

It doesn't matter if you are Christian or not. Christmas is the holiday we celebrate Jesus Christ's birth, but if you celebrate it there's no problem with you not believing in it. Some religious freaks will tell you there is, but enjoying your family once a year while there's a lighted tree & ornaments is not a crime! I am Christian & have some Jewish friends that totally love Christmas. You keep doing what you're doing! :)

it is not suitable in case you're Christian or no longer. Christmas is the holiday we rejoice Jesus Christ's start, yet once you rejoice it there is not any problem with you no longer believing in it. some religious freaks might actually help comprehend there is, yet enjoying your loved ones as quickly as a year on an identical time as there's a lighted tree & adorns isn't a criminal offense! i'm Christian & have some Jewish friends that truly love Christmas. you preserve doing what you're doing! :)

I'm the same way you are, I love Christmas, but I don't believe in God. It's about family getting together, the Christmas spirit, beautiiiiful lights and decorations, the joy of putting up a Christmas tree, and all that good, fun stuff to me. I'm sure some people think differently because of their religion, but it's not up to them. It's your choice, and you sound like me, so you should definitely celebrate Christmas!!!

I'm a christian too, and I also enjoy the lights and all the other stuff that comes with with christmas. Even though the whole deal with the tree and decorations is from the pegan religion, it's still part of our culture and tradition. Just don't forget what christmas is really about.

Christmas has become a somewhat non denominational holiday (at least in many parts of the western world) and some atheists even celebrate it. Many kids shows are even starting to say that the true meaning of Christmas is giving, when many Christians would disagree and say that the true meaning is Jesus. Keep on celebrating!

Unfortunately we have all gotten away from the "Christian" meaning of Christmas.... But giving, and being with family is a good thing, so I don't think your alone. Enjoy your holiday!
