As you know, Passover celebrates the freeing of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt millenia ago. Over a century ago, we had our own slavery here, with the European-Americans enslaving captured Africans. I wonder if American Jews reflect upon the history of slavery on this land as they celebrate freedom.
For example, I've heard that some people have sung the African-American spiritual "Go Down, Moses" at their seders. How else have American Jews reflected upon American slavery during their Passover seders and celebrations?
