get some fine gun powder, rs100 will work, roll it up in news paper, add a fuse made with sugar soaked string, lite the fuse, and enjoy the show.. at least your neighbors will.

This really is not a good idea. Fireworks are dangerous enough, I suspect that homemade ones would be much more so.

Use the gunpowder idea above, and put some copper shavings in also. At least it will be a green blast and not just a bang.

you don't, unless you want to blow off body parts. not to mention the arrests for weapons of mass destruction your building in your basement that someone happened to see.
