what does it mean to u?why most people (not all of em) juz celebrate it in their house with their family instead of celebrate it at church?isnt it the birthday of Christ? what happen to silent night n joy to the world song?

I live in Florida last year my daughters school acknowledged Veteran's day and the kids had the day off, this year they did not. In honor of family and friends who have served my husband and I decided to keep her home.

Not to offend anyone but the schools here celebrate Columbus Day, Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Day...yet they do not ackowledge those who fought to keep this country free.

Does anyone else agree that all schools should ackowledge this day?

Besides Turkey, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GOOD IDEAS OF MAIN COURSES AND SIDE DISHES THAT MY MOM SHOULD COOK ON THANKSGIVING...

My mom is an EXCELLENT cook, and she asked me what I wanted for Thanksgiving this year, but I cant think of anything.
She will cook whatver I want. (I'm so lucky!)

I love Soul Food, but I'm open to other Ethnic Dishes as well..

My family and I have been invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner. I offered to bring the Pumpkin Pie. My host responded, "Use Splenda, not sugar". Personally, I find Splenda repulsively sweet. I asked my host if sugar is restricted in her diet. She said no, but that she doesn't like it too sweet. (Doesn't make too much sense to me). So I told her that I didn't think P.P. uses much sugar, but if my recipe did, I would halve the amount. She said, "or, you can use Splenda". What would you do in my sitch?

i am taking my partner (female) and her son (male) to ireland for a surprise christmas gift. i want to do a kind of treasure hunt with gifts before they get to the flight tickets, and want to make each letter of the word IRELAND be the beginning letter of a gift for both of them. for example: L - lego for him, L - liquers for her. anyone got any ideas for gifts that could make up the whole word? i am stuck already!!!!!! thanks.

Some things i should point out-its my first year studying overseas so i have very few friends here and it'll be good if the 'plan' doesn't consume take a big budget.Travelling with my friends would be out of the question and anything overly grand would be close to impossible.
