i am taking my partner (female) and her son (male) to ireland for a surprise christmas gift. i want to do a kind of treasure hunt with gifts before they get to the flight tickets, and want to make each letter of the word IRELAND be the beginning letter of a gift for both of them. for example: L - lego for him, L - liquers for her. anyone got any ideas for gifts that could make up the whole word? i am stuck already!!!!!! thanks.

I = igloo - perhaps you could rent one like a timeshare.
R = race. You could take them to the races
E = elephant hunting - difficult in Ireland now, but the zoo has a few.
L = Lips - you could pay for some collagen injections.
A = ants - every child wants thir own ant farm, and these will be Irish ants, hurrah.
N = nee caps - very handy, well leggy to have a spare pair in case you fall fowl of the paramilitaries.
D = dung - brilliant for grownig stuff

I do food gift baskets that I put together myself for my children and grandchildren for Christmas.
For her go to a store she likes, it could be the dollar store, or bath items or the grocery store.
The look for items with the IRELAND letters.
For her son, you could try a dollar store or for more money a toy store and some small candies.
Maybe you could do this idea just for your partner. Consider a T-shirt with IRELAND on it for him to use on the trip. Maybe a sweat jacket with the name on it.
For her I have the following:
I=BAILEYS IRISH CREME.
R=A ROSE
E=EDAM CHEESE
L=A PUFFY FABRIC HEART WITH LOVE ON IT OR A SMALL CAKE WITH LOVE OR A SPECIAL PIECE OF CANDY THAT SAYS LOVE.
A=ALMONDS (Tie them up in a net bag to make them cute with Christmas ribbon.
N=NYLONS (If she wears them.)
D=A SMALL BOX OF DARK CHOCOLATES.

Make it easier and use the word "EIRE", the keltic name for Ireland, meaning "The Emerald isle".
