It's not a big deal - believe what you want and remind them that if they are mean to you their Santa will only give them coal. Hey it's their belief and you should at least have something to say when they get annoying about it. BTW-Santa was based on an actual saint and the values he was modeled on of generosity, kindness, caring for children and good will are still valuable even if his character is a bit out dated.

It's not a big deal, but to other kids/adults/whatever, they probably aren't used to meeting someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas, so they automatically feel shocked that someone deosn't believe in one of Christmas' customs. After all, it's such a popular holiday.

Believing in Santa Claus has nothing to do with celebrating Christmas. To me, Christmas is a time for being with loved ones and celebrating that love. The "Santa Claus" thing is more for very young children who still believe in the magical part of Christmas.

You don't have to believe in Santa. On the other hand, you don't have to make it a mission to tell everyone you don't believe in Santa either. "Live and let live" works for me.
