My family and I have been invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner. I offered to bring the Pumpkin Pie. My host responded, "Use Splenda, not sugar". Personally, I find Splenda repulsively sweet. I asked my host if sugar is restricted in her diet. She said no, but that she doesn't like it too sweet. (Doesn't make too much sense to me). So I told her that I didn't think P.P. uses much sugar, but if my recipe did, I would halve the amount. She said, "or, you can use Splenda". What would you do in my sitch?

Make 1 with Splenda and 1 with regular sugar. Let everyone know what you did and which was which. Let the masses decide.

I had a pumpkin pie over the weekend that was made with Splenda instead of sugar. It was good, but it wasn't the best. You can get away with making the Spleda one, but be sure to tell people. That way, when it's a little "off", they'll know you haven't lost your touch -- it was the sugar substitute.

I think Splenda is the best of the artificial sweeteners since I don't like regular sugar for most things, however I've never used it for baking. If I were you, I would make one with regular sugar and one with Splenda to make the hostess happy. Let them know which is which and the guests can decide from there.

One way to please everyone...take two pies. Make one with Splenda as your host asked and make one with sugar. Let people know which is which...
You'll have your usual delicious pie to share with those who appreciate it and your host will have her Splenda pie.

Splenda is not a natural thing. Use organic raw sugar.

though splenda is lower calorie, go for the normal sugar. it isnt as sweet and it has a better texture. its thanksgiving! you have to splurge.
