I'm thinking that there's a lot that people do that are pilgrimages of sorts. The obvious type is a religous/spiritual pilgrimage. How about going to a high school reunion? Visiting the resting place of someone in your family? What do you do to remember people or places that are important to you?

Mine was camping when I was 3. I remember the cows going past the tent in the morning, being frightened by a tractor, and going to sleep one night with my clothes on. We got up and went home while it was still dark, and I found out years later that we had done a bunk before the farmer had come round for his money, as he asked an exhorbitant price for using his field!

What would mean more to a lady, bringing home flowers just because it was a day where I felt that it was the right thing to do, or just because I followed suit and do things like that when the calender says I should like Valentine's Day?????

Consider this a straw poll, I have no agenda & my opinion does not matter. To be up front, I am an Atheist Conservative. I have already started getting email from groups citing stores that will not be using the word Christmas in their advertising. These companies usually substitute the term "holiday season". Please answer this without bashing Christian's, Atheists or other groups that do not agree with you.
1. Does this hijack tradition?
2. Will you continue to shop at merchants that alter their advertising?
3. Do you believe that this will become a media non-story, again?
4. Does the word Christmas embrace a traditional celebration or does it only mean Jesus & God?
5. Do you believe that many of the merchants are overly sensitive to a small minority in the country?
