A holiday in Mablethorpe when I was 6, we stayed in a brand new caravan called an 'American Holiday Home' I can remember been fascinated because the double bed pulled down from the wall and there was a shower cubical too, never been in a shower cubical before then and thought it was amazing, the beach was massive with dunes and we all wanted to go to the fairground but were told we had to wait till the end of the week for that, I saw these coloured things a lot further on the beach so we all decided to go for a walk to see what they were, they were huge oil drums painted different colours for use of target practise by the American air-force and we almost got shot to pieces and told off big time by some huge American guys, they took us back to our mom who gave us all a good hiding for wandering off on our own and nearly getting killed, we thought it was the best adventure we had ever been on and it wasn't until years later that we realised how lucky we were not to have been killed, but a great holiday with lots of good memories.

while i became right into a baby, we had a Christmas parade in basic terms after Thanksgiving wherein Santa rode into city on a firetruck and threw candy to the youngsters. definite, the downtown became into embellished with Christmas lighting fixtures fixtures, artwork, and song performed on a valid gadget during significant St on an analogous time as human beings shopped.. the only noise makers I keep in mind, we had at New Years. They have been made up of steel and we had those for some years previously mom threw them out. human beings have been jovial, spoke, wanted, 'MERRY CHRISTMAS,' and existence became into good. that's unhappy to think of we've misplaced lots. there is too lots commercialism, and political correctness that has dwindled the exhilaration. i assume i'm fairly my father's daughter. I omit the forged ole days immensely. constructive query for remembrance.

when I was 5, my mother made me a dolls dress for my baby doll, it was all hand stitched, it was so pretty, it was light green, tiny little checks, it was gathered on the yolk, with really fancy stitching, also I got a banana, an apple, an orange, a handful of hard candy, & a few nuts, boy I thought that was so great, we were really poor but mom & dad always made sure we had a little something, I remember decorating our Christmas tree, with chains made out of construction paper, & we would string popcorn for our garland, we had a few icicles we strung, also, also we had 2 ornaments from the first tree mom & dad had, we had a great time, life was great then, but it's also great now. Also we all gathered around the piano and sang Christmas carols, I really miss that, as you grow older, it's these things that make you smile year after year. I hope all of you have these sweet memories. Also there were 7 of us kids but we all got some little something. It was a great Christmas. Thanks for bringing back such sweet thoughts.Have a great day.

Going on holiday to Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire and staying in a caravan. I remember having to go to the loo in the middle of the night and because caravans didn't have toilets in them then you had to run across the campsite the the toilet block with a torch and then when you got there having to check there were no spiders under the seat before you sat down!

The first holidays that I remember and the first time that I travelled by plane is the same time. I was 10 years old and my mum send me to visit some relatives in Canarias all by myself! And there I was, flying with the stewardess stick to me like glue! But I have to admit that were one of the best holidays ever! Sunshine and beach everyday! Best tan ever!

I'm just getting a chuckle out of people's interpretations of what you meant by Holiday; vacation vs.celebration. Mine is either time spent up at a lake cabin when I was around 7, or my 4th birthday party, which was Halloween themed, depending on the definition. ;)

it was not the first holiday but something i remembered quite well when i was young-
we were backpacking in europe and were staying on a double decker coach in italy. The coach stopped at a campsite for the night. it wasn't until the next morning when we looked out of the windows then we knew that it was a topless campsite. you know i was only 18.....

It was than 50 years ago. My aunt surprised me with beautiful doll in a wedding gown. She was in her own carrying case with lots of beautiful clothes. The smell still reminds me of Christmas. We were very poor and my aunt didn't have kids of her own so she always bought my sister and I lots of toys for Christmas. I'll always remember that day I stole a peek and pretended to be surprised when she presented me with the doll. She didn't believe me but it was still a wonderful gift.

The first holiday that I remember, that was good, was Christmas when I was 7. My mother had just divorced my father and this was our first Christmas without him. I don’t ever remember having a Christmas with my father; I’ve only seen them in pictures. All I remember before they divorced was that my father us to throw away our toys every time we got them as gifts. To him children were not allowed to play with toys, only on good occasions like getting an A in school. My father would only allow us to read books or play sports. My mother never like the way he treated us. She believed kids should play with toys. After they divorced and we had our first Christmas without him, I got this pink teddy bear that I named Teddy. This was the first toy I got that my father didn’t throw away. I still have him to this day. To me that was the best Christmas ever.
