Honestly, in reading this site and reviewing how answers are chosen as "best" and which answers receive positive feedback, it is almost exclusively statements (not questions) which are found in the various categories? Why do you think it is that people have taken this question tool and started using it as a platform for the most basic form of validation conceivable?

packed all their crazy-uncle religious-fanatics off to some big island where they could argue and shoot each other to their hearts content, would war disappear from the face of the Earth?

religion seems to be almost the only reason people fight wars anymore..

In Yahoo Avatars there are no depictions of the morbidly obese.. Yes, they have plus size, but no lardos. Why can't they be more inclusive, I feel it is descrimination. I want to see some fat back-booby having, tripple breasted men and women out there!
And another thing, the female avatars are annoying, they don't have many clothing styles, and I really hate having to dress mine up like a girl... and I want to have the option of giving her a beard. Not that I would, but I'd like to have that option. And why aren't there any options for drag queens? I'd like to see an avatar in drag...

You might know what i'm talking about If you were born elsewhere, but moved to your current country/society early on in childhood..or you were born in your current society but was brought up carrying the values of another culture as well.
Sometimes it's very difficult trying to balance the cultural values because they clash. it's not just that the cultures clash (the social culture, and family/background culture)...we clash internally. we understand both sides and perspectives, but that does not help clear anything at all...it just helps in creating a feeling of...being stuck.
It's not only that..there are many other issues to consider. for example, the issue of belonging. We belong in both cultural worlds...but at the same time we are foreign to both...we never feel 100% accepted in either. we're a bit of a foreigner in both realms and that's a harsh reality to accept.
Anyone else gone through this balancing dance of cultures?any experiences/solutions/advice for others?

doesn't that mean that the racists win because the word goes back to being extremely sesitive to use by anyone? I would think that if it wasn't illegal and in common usage by everyone (especially African Americans) then it would lose some of it's bite wouldn't it? Or should it be banned totally simply because it is offensive and derogatory?

Im an educated white christian american.

Is it really Muslims who we are against? Or is it a particular, nation/s.

Doesnt it seem like Muslims are the victim? Just because they fight back doesnt mean they are wrong, every country and people have the right to fight back

Islamic countries arent all in on it.

If you are country of buhddists, and a country called untitled 100% catholics declare war on you or you declare war on them, does that mean you are at war with catholosism? obviously not.

people are to gullable to media brainwashing, not educated enough and so narrow minded. I mean its all too obvious, its all about money and power, not about religion. They just use us, use the masses of people to thier advantage. Religion helps they do this. Its just a weapon

There has been a lot of press recently about being asked to apologise for the slave trade. I feel that its ridiculous that compensation is sought by African nations. We (Britain) were the first major nation to put a stop to what was a hideous practice. The British navy broke the back of the slave trade by direct military intervention. What really galls is that the slave trade in Africa had existed for thousands of years before Europeans got involved and in fact, African chiefs were the ones responsible for rounding up their fellow Africans and selling them to the slavers.
Maybe I (as a white English man) should sue the Danish for the Viking raids - or take the Italians to the European court for the shocking behaivour of the Romans?

" i do not like making excuses for racists but a person has to be taught to hate. are your parents racists?" was said in response to "I hate black people"

I was raised in a climate of overwhelming and virulent racism. I began questioning this before grade school and had rejected it by age 10 as unjust, cruel, and unfounded.

Not all of us believe what we were taught to believe as children. I was taught nothing of music, yet love Baroque and classical music generally. I was raised southern Baptist, yet I'm an atheist. I was taught that gays were evil and freaks. I rejected that too.

If we all believed what we were taught as children, w/o question, like sheep....Isn't that a bit scary?

Conformity for its own sake is as absurd and stupid as rebellion for its own sake, imo.
