I believe that they are adopting these children to prove to the world that they are good people. In a way I imagine they are justifying their multimillion dollar pays checks. Celebrities go out to these impovished countries and give them millions of dollars to aid them and that makes them look good in the public eye. The win the hearts of Americans by doing a good deed such as adopting a child or building an orphanage. So when a movie comes out people will see the actors in a new movie and think to themselves-"oh I like her...she is such a good person" and buy more movie tickets, thus giving the actors more money.

Dont get me wrong all I'll for adopting, but my point is that there are needy children all over the world-even in America and the affluent countries...but we seem to forget about them. I wonder would it make news if a British rock star adopted an American baby from poverty as opposed to a Ethopian baby...
