Go to a psychiatrist instead - it seems that's what you need the most.
And it appears that only one woman (excuse me, he's actually a guy) below mentioned anything about your sad attitude toward Blacks. It was more important that they coddle you as a fellow woman than to correct you.
This reveals how women support one another right or wrong.
You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

I can understand how you feel. Not about the black part but about the male doctor part.
Many women do not like having a male gynecologist and if you specify that you want female only they have to respect your request. Be adamant. You do not have to accept someone you are not comfortable with.
When you make the appointment specify what you need to be comfortable. If you know the doctors names where you are going you can also make an appointment with a specific doctor.

I wouldn't go to a male gynecologist no matter what race he happened to be, I've had to before when I was pregnant and in the emergency room, but I prefer a female because I just feel uncomfortable, severely uncomfortable, with some guy looking at my "stuff". You probably don't know this but in all of the cases, if not most, of doctors molesting their patients, these doctors were non-black. But in any case I'd ask for a female, cause they don't need to "step out of the room" as often...

It is very important that you be comfortable with your physician especially with a gyn exam. When you call the clinic to make an appointment just say I'd prefer a female doctor. Many women prefer female doctors. It's not against the law to have a preference. I'm not going to slam you for not wanting a Black male doctor. I don't know your reasons and you may have had a bad experience. I hope you can overcome you fears.
Joseph, right now it's more important for her to see a doctor she is comfortable with. It's not about coddling. I was sexually assaulted and for a long time I did not want to be examined by a White male. It wasn't because of racism, it was because of the memories associated with the assault. Yes, it was through therapy that I was able to overcome my fears but that is not what is needed right now. We don't know her reason for wanting to see a gyn but apparently she thinks its important. I certainly hope that her reasons for not wanting to see a Black male are not racial but don't be too quick to judge.

You have the right to reject a doctor, and I believe there is a sign in most offices, if not all that say this, and it's based on sex, color, or ethnicity. I also have this problem, and I felt like an *** asking for a different one, but it happened to me once. They ended up treating me like a pile of crap, and I ended up switching offices. I have this thing about keeping my body pure. And even having a black doctor doing his doctorly things would violate my pureness. Because it's willing. Anyway you're not alone. Don't let anyone on here make you feel bad for not wanting it.

I don't know do you have a problem with a black woman too ? or is it just a Black man , or is it just men Gyn in general ?? i don't really understand your question ?

First off, what is your "not very good perception of Black males"? Because that sounds racist. I've found that it doesn't matter what race of doctor you go to, male or female, you're gonna be nervous.
You're 19, grow up and get checked out. It'll be over in like 5 minutes.

How would you know if any doctors (whether they're male/female black/white) are any good if you've never been to see them? The point is if you need to see a gynaecologist request a white female gynaecologist if you feel most comfortable doing that. I think you also need to get over your irrational unfortunate perception of black male doctors by seeing a counsellor.

It is your body and you should go to someone that makes you comfortable. You are paying the bill. If a person walks in and you are not comfortable with that person then just say i am sorry but i would feel better with someone else. They are doctors and will understand. Just remember you are paying them for service. Good Luck

I don;t know why it would matter if he was black but I don't like having a male doctor either or dentist for that matter. Why don't you just call some doctors offices and ask for a woman doctor? At my clinic it's all women.

You can request a female doctor. It is your body and don't go to anybody you don't feel comfortable with. Ask you friends if they have a female doctor they see who you might be able to see.
