packed all their crazy-uncle religious-fanatics off to some big island where they could argue and shoot each other to their hearts content, would war disappear from the face of the Earth?

religion seems to be almost the only reason people fight wars anymore..

I don't think Hitler was an atheist. Why would he persecute one particular religion then? people only persecute religions that conflict with their own..

"Its in our blood to argue, fight and kill. no matter what the reason"

wow, what a profoundly depressing thought. I think theres a huge leap between arguing and killing though, and I think its a very preventable one.

Lots of populations have kicked the habit. The Vikings, the Mongolians, the Japanese..

No, not unless you sent all the oil with them, thats what we are in Iraq for, granted, more people have died in the name of religion than for any other cause, but the us will fight for oil until the cars need something else to run on. When we went to Kuwait, we were there to get Saddam out of there, but he went there to stop them from stealing his oil, the Kuwaitis slant drilled into Iraq and pumped their oil out, Saddam deserved to die for other horrible things he had done, but invading Kuwait was not one of them.

There is comming a day of peace. There will be a war free world. It is not for at least another seven yrs. During this 7 yrs there wont be any Christians around. You see as the Bible predicted there will be wars and rumors of wars until the second comming of Christ, then his people will be called up to meet him in the air. at that time the word will be turned over the anti christ and it will be the 3 1/2 best yrs and 3 1/2 worst yrs this world has ever known. Grown men will beg to die, actually pray for the mountains to fall on them. Then Christ will return and there will be ! last battle. Christ will win. Then all saved Christians will live with Christ in paradise for eternity. Those that did not put their faith and trust in Christ will be cast into the lake of fire prepared for Satan and his angels...

So if a war free society is what you desire, please let me encourage you to accept Christ as saviour right now.

I like your idea but it is going to take an island at least the size of Australia to fit them all on.

Anyway, there is always the Hitler types out there that will find a reason to make people follow him. He was an atheist so religion didn't come into it for him.

War will always be around as long as there are intelligent AND persuasive people to back it up. Although religion is the easiest way to hate its not always the most clear answer. There's always an underlying excuse, (oil, money, personal and government feuds) take your pick.

I don't think so. Someone will always find something to fight about.

It would at least make religion less of a reason.
