This sadly included myself when some racist comments were directed toward me. I had to sit back and realize that THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE BIGOTS WANT.

Anybody else notice this trend on Yahoo Answers?

Boredom
Lack of a solid opinion
Lack of time
To have a change, to keep it in balance: sometimes, very intelligent people do stupid things (sometimes putting themselves into dangerous situations) just to keep the balance; who wants to be intelligent all the time? Who doesn't want a bit of change once in a while?
Would be dull otherwise.

Happens a lot on the internets. It is not unique to Y!A, rather it is characteristic of on-line forums as well. The bigot will post an inflammatory comment/question and just lie in wait. Flame wars will ensue, differences of understanding will become personal vendettas and lulz will be generated.

The Internet is where it is today simply because people have too much time on their hands.

It gives me something to do as well as earning two points! They say something I like to respond. I figure that I pretty much get the last word so I walk away getting it off my chest because not only have I vented my anger, I have the last say and I get two points from it. Whether they actually have the sense to comprehend what they're told is another matter. I feel better and thats all that matters.

I call it cyber-balls. When people make comments that they would otherwise not say to another person face to face. I used to want to argue back, but then I realized its a no win situation.
