It makes me mad reading some of the questions in cultures. I didn't know that there were so many undercover bigots on the internet and on Yahoo. I'm tired of these bigots on this site sayign that us Blacks are stupid, unattactrive, and ghetto. I'm the total opposite and most Black people are defying these sterotypes.

Willie Lynch was a carribean slave owner who wrote a manual on how to control slaves.
Among other things, he taught slave owners how to control their slaves better by pitting them against eachother, black man against black woman, black child against black adult, light skinned against dark skinned, ect.

Specifically concerning the relationship between the blackman and blackwoman, he instructed slave owners to humiliate the black man to show the black woman he had NO power to protect his family. Because of this, the black woman was forced to assume the dominant role while the family had no examples of postive men to follow.

If you agree that the effects of this can still be seen today, what can we do to stop it?

Why do they cruelly kill dogs and cats on a regular basis so they can eat them when they have cows and other live stock to eat? I saw a video on youtube and it showed them hanging, slaughtering, and boiling the dogs alive.

As a black person, not to me, I think that african american is more offensive. I have never been to africa, i probably will never go there and I don't know anyone from africa. Look at the way africa is shown by the media, etc.

Look at Feed the Children, it portrays all blacks as poor and dying of diseases. Look at "Going tribal" and "National Geographic" it portrays blacks as uncivilized. I mean, there are women walking around with their breast hanging out. Kids being scarred with tattoos for the rest of their lives with sharp rocks, etc. I have never seen ANY good things about Africans in the media, never.

I am a black woman who has NEVER had a black man disrespect me. From the black men i have dated, to black male friends, to strangers on the street. I feel if you give respect and demand respect back, and if you PRESENT YOURSELF with class, you'll attract people who are respectful.

So why is it such a widespread thought that ALL black women are disrespected by black men??

I often see black men with women of other races, and I believe this is a wonderful thing! I love diversity and believe our country becomes richer by the presence of interracial couples. But, with the absense of many of our black men due to arguable drug laws, false improsionment, and other detrimental reasons for incarceration...are there enough black men around that still appreciate black women? If you are a black man, would you prefer to date a black women versus any other race? Why or why not?

Do you think African Americans tend to have an aversion to mental healthcare? Why or why not?

I recently was diagnosed with severe depression and adult ADD. Medication has changed my life. I do not get a good response from my family or my close friends who I decide to confide with regarding my diagnosis.

I remember having problems in school, and fighting and argueing with my parents, who "diagnosed" me themselves, and did not take me to the doctor to confirm their "diagnosis" (they watched one 20/20 episode on ADD and decide from that day on I had it and that they could punish or beat it out of me.) I remember asking them to take me, begging even, because I knew something was wrong, and i wanted to change, but didn't know how. They refused. I believe my life would have been much different today had I received actual proffessional help much earlier.

Is that a common attitude towards mental health care amongst African Americans, do you think? Why or why not?

I was watching the Tyra Banks show yesterday and she had two friends that weren't happy with their skin color. One lady was dark and complained about how people ignored her and guys didn't like her. She talked about how light girls get attention and at a club the guys got drinks for only the light skinned girls at her table.

Her friend was light skinned and complained how she feels out of place with blacks because of her skin color. I roled my eyes because she didn't realize how much better she has it.

They gave the light woman dark skin and it was amazing people ignored her didn't make eye contact, even mean to her she was treated like she was contagious!

I appreciate my looks because I see how much better I'm treated by black, white, hispanic, and all guys because I'm mixed and don't have light skin. But I never realized how much worse dark skinned girls get treated! I'll never complain again; I feel so bad for dark women! It must really hurt!

Okay well when your in high school your always labled. I hate labels... but what you don't know is that you are labled. Your labeled as emo, punk, goth, prep, jocks, nerds, geeks, clubbers, skateres and posures/wannabes.
What I would like to know is that why do people have you classed as these groups or others? I always think that its not always what you wear or how you talk or act, but how you deal with things. Am I wrong? My best friends and I are labled as punks, goths, skaters, and emos. But why do people have to lable us. I don't like lables by then you have posures who think they can do whatever they want but they just become annoying. Whats up with that? And like I said .... why do people have to be labeled... its like War World 3.

My mums side of the family is really dark, whereas on my dads side everyone is fair skinned. Sometimes I wonder whether we ever belonged to India to start off with. Can some explain why this could be? Some talk about Aryans and persians, but I need a little more insight. I'd appreciate if you know something.

You see, my parents migrated from mexico to california....and about a year later i was born. i have never been to mexico, but its like i was raised in mexico because i speak spanish just as well as a person born in mexico and they raised me with mexican culture. but the thing is,,,, some mexicans think im no longer "pure" mexican just because i was born and raised in america and that hurts a bit...it makes me feel exempted. i dont understand why some people think im not mexican because ALL my family is from there. i dont think im different from any other mexican person!!!

I'm not saying all...most that I've come across don't find it a problem but there's always a few that will shoot you funny looks or hate on you...just dumb stuff. Why is this? I don't care when black women date white men so why is this different? Again, I'm not saying all feel this way. Just a few. So, yeah. Thoughts?

ok let me rephrase my question because I got a lot angry feed back

Im a black 16 1/2 year-old

I feel that blacks should be given some kind of reperation for what happend because we were never given it. I know that all the whites who did all the bad things I speak of are dead. BUT we are in 2007 so its quite ovuis that we will not be geting it. also

about death pictulary that of whites, blacks and all other races I normaly dont care when it happens unless it happens to alot of people . to anwser one persons question

my form of reperations that should be given to us is enugh money to bring the majority of blacks out of poverty, some support to change or even get rid of rap music and some goddamn respect.

I am sick and tired of black people haveing to over come this overcome that but never retaliate openly about what we have to overcome or were racist. so in conclusion regardless of the past I dont feel bad when whites die i dont want you to die but if you do then ok.

If a black person calls me a cracker or any other word that insults my race they get away with it, however if a white person calls a black person a ****** and any other racial insult they are automaticly thought to be a racists and it ends up starting a big ordeal.

I may get attacked for saying this, but personally that’s a just an excuse. Discrimination in the work place and current financial problems I go along with. But slavery is out of the question. I am black; I struggled just like every other race has. I’m successful now. I say this all the time DO NOT let your past determine your future. Know your history, learn from it… and don’t make the same mistakes again and again. I don’t want, nor do I expect anything from anyone because of my race. Reparations have to be one of the stupidest things I had ever heard of in my life. Why should I get paid for something my ancestors did? I was not the one suffering, and it’s too late to make up for in now. But we can make it better. They already gave enough to me by dieing for what they believed in, so their decedents can live a great life, and I intend to honor that. Don’t grow up with the mentality that somebody owes you something.
