If a black person calls me a cracker or any other word that insults my race they get away with it, however if a white person calls a black person a ****** and any other racial insult they are automaticly thought to be a racists and it ends up starting a big ordeal.

Wow, I agree with you all the way. This is so true. I am hispanic and I even agree with this. But all racism is wrong.

It depends upon the situation and the intent.

Within your own racial group, racial slurs are not perceived as being racist. If a white person calls another white person "white trash," it may be offensive, but it's not considered racist. Likewise, if a black person calls another black person "n***a," it's not considered racist, either.

Within groups of mixed race where everyone knows and likes each other, racial slurs can be used jokingly and will not be perceived as being either insulting or racist. If you're friends with the person using the word, and you know his intent is to joke around, it's probably not offensive.

When a white man uses the "N" word in addressing a black man he doesn't know, it is clearly both insulting and racist.

When a black man calls a white man he doesn't know a "cracka" when the white man has done nothing whatsoever to demonstrate any hint of racism, it is insulting and racist. However, if the white man has already demonstrated that he is racist by his words and actions, then the black man who labels him as a "cracka" is simply calling a spade a spade.

We can argue about this all day without any results. But the truth of the matter is this-It seems that it is not as big a deal if a black person refers to a white person as cracker, honkey, or what other clever names have been made up. But reverse the situation and the fit hits The shan. Agree of disagree. But for whatever reason this is true.

yes, thats true. In life most things are a cycle. It used to be the whites getting away with racist remarks earlier. But now, the tables have turned. Thats the way things happen in life. After maybe a few decades, whites maybe so badly treated that blacks will get the most preferences in most things rather than whites. The whites will mutiny much as the blacks did through music, protest and lifestyle. The cycle continues thereafter.

I used this on another question. I think it applies here.

It is my opinion based on what I have seen during my life on this planet. I don't expect everyone (or anyone) to agree with it.

Because of the way Blacks were treated mainly from the slavery era to the Civil Rights movements they feel that they own the idea that they are being discrimated against by everyone else (even if they aren't). That would make everyone who is not Black a racist (especially if they are white).

The idea being if you are always (or were) being discriminated against you can never be considered a racist if you do the discriminating.

I've never been put in a situation where anyone would call me a derogatory name. Not trying to accuse you, but did you do something to be called that or are you hanging in the wrong places?

Reverse racism, just like reverse sexism, men can be made fun of in popular culture but god help you if you're a guy, generalize, and insult the female gender

i am white and i don't see any thing derogatory about being called a name that negatively portrays my race becase the europeans, especially the irish-immigrants - made this country what it is - from cars to airplanes, computers, the internet, and much more - so it doesn't have a knee jerk reaction to me.....it's almost like how that saying goes "you call me a ***** like it s a bad thing"
