Are latinos called latinos because they speak a latin languaje? so, italians and french should call latinos too? hispanics are just from spain? latinos are called latinos because they come from latinoamerica? what about Mexicans? Are they latinos too? in ALL the maps I have seen Mexico is situated in North America! just like USA and Canada so... I'm confused! sorry my ignorance but, I would love a real, truth explanation ... I also have noticed that some "latinos" are not proud from being latinos, so maybe that's why they call themselves hispanics? so, we think they are europeans?

I once worked at Mcdonalds when I was younger and I noticed something odd. Whenever we gave away the little barbies sometimes we would run out of a certain race (They were only Black or White). Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians never had a problem with recieving a White doll for their daughters but Whites acted irrationally when we ran out of White dolls, and refused dolls of another race ALWAYS! It absolutely never failed. Why is this? Especially since possessing dolls of a different race is scientifically proven to help children with dealing with race. As a native american, I rarely if ever possessed a doll that looked like me. Did I miss something?

to be sure i am not trying to offend anyone. if think i'm wrong tell me why i'm wrong and if its true i'll agree with you. It just seems like things like the United ***** College Fund and Miss Black USA don't seem right. If there was a United Caucasion College Fund or Miss White USA there would be an uproar. Can't there be racism against whites? Let there be no confusion what the white population did to other races ecspecially the Afican Americans was atrocious and if possible i would remove that from history, but what is done is done. Whites are sorry for what the did. There still isn't anti-german feelings for what they did to the jews. Generations have passed and they regretted their mistake and moved on. Why can't we be a united America and equality for all. There still is racism existing and both sides are the culprit. I'm trying not to offend anyone and if i have i'm sorry.

Why the hate filled responses, to anything that is different from their thinking, logic, religion, eating behaviors, writing, asking, breathing?
Nowadays it seems less and less people can have an open-minded discussion without someone getting overly agitated, and the other not knowing how the reaction could be so over-thought, over-stated, over-anything.

Both of my parents are the same race and people can tell their nationality. However, no one ever really guesses my nationality right because I look somewhat different. I've been called white, black, asian (Vietnamese, Filipino etc.), and latino (Puerto Rican, etc.) I don't understand how I can look like all these different races since my parents are the same race. I was even held up in an immigration office because I was told I was not the race on my passport when I tried to enter the country. I thought people could tell if someone was actually their race or not. For example, I'll have alot of Vietnamese people asking me if I'm Vietnamese and when I tell them I'm not, they look shocked etc.. or I'll have black people coming up to me assuming I'm black.

Besides my main race, I don't know what other races I may be mixed with. I'm sure it's not a significant amount to count though. I'm also not adopted so I don't know why I look so different or why everyone thinks I'm their race.

im an asian female a little over 5'5 and alot of the asian guys i see at my college are either very close to my height or shorter than me. i live in the US and i was wondering what the average height for asians is where you live? most of my asian girl friends are around 5'2 so i am considered "tall" as an asian female to them but i dont think i am at all!

Affirmative action does not only affect minorty races, it also allows women, the disabled, veterans, and any other minority class to have a chance a job, place, government contract, etc.

We all KNOW how women get paid 76 cents per every man's dollar. If there was NO affirmative action, women wouldn't even be CEO of their companies and would have to sleep their way to the top. I don't want to go back in a era like that! IT"S BEEN PROVEN THAT WOMEN GET PAID LESS THAN MEN!

let's be real, people discriminate against disabled people or people with no limbs. We need AA to give these people a chance.
