There are numerous reasons for divorce.

Women have become more empowered and realise that divorce is an option if their partner is abusive and that they don't have to suffer in silence anymore.

People that get married when they are young often grow in opposing directions as they age and realise that the things they had in common when they were 16 suddenly aren't applicable anymore.

Sometimes love IS blind and many people don't realise it until they have already tied the knot.

We also live in an age whereby technology (mobile phones/internet access etc) makes it easier for people to conduct affairs (whilst also making it easier for their spouses to snoop and find out about them!)

People live hectic, stressful lives and often don't want to invest any time into a relationship that appears to be failing - we're always told that life is too short and people don't want to waste their lives on someone who isn't ticking all the right boxes anymore.

People are also constantly in the pursuit of perfection - there are so many opportunities to meet people and decide that they have something more to offer than their current partner - in effect, some people are continually "upgrading" their partners for a better model.

Lastly (but I'm sure this list isn't exhaustive by any means) we live in a world of choice and people are choosing not to settle for anything less than their ideal - rather than trying to fix their problems it seems easier for some to just get rid of the old and bring on the new.

Sad but true.

People Change. And when they do, they most often go in a direction that is not suited to their spouse.....

Also, The world has much, much to offer nowadays. People have so many choices. They are bound to go in separate directions in some way sooner or later. This can be dangerous in a relationship if both people don't make the transition together. It was actually somewhat easier in the olden days when life was simpler......

Hope that helps somewhat

Intentional destruction of the family unit. Plus economics. Most people today don't make what's known as a living wage.

Lack of true committment, and the true mean-
ing of a marriage has faded; along with not
wanting to adapt has resulted in more divorces.

Marriage is unnatural. There has been unfaithfulness in marriage in every culture and in every century, and this will always be the case.
