It is a genetic trait that is reinforced by the fact that Black men tend to favor big butts. In as much as the blending would be the best way to end hatred of people over color, it is not being served by the fact that Black males tend to select the bigger butted women who are not black, which may mean all women may end up with big butts someday. Come on guys, our flat butted women are hot too.

Actually I just did a research review that included this very topic. The scientific answer: African American women have more type IIb muscle type fibers and less type I fibers than Caucasian women, and overall for women, those with more type IIb fibers have a larger body mass index and harder time losing weight. this also helps explain why black women are at higher risk for obesity and its related diseases. But, science doesn't know yet whether more of these type IIb fibers are a CAUSE to being obese or an EFFECT of obesity.

also thus it stands to reason (since women have gynoid or 'pear-shaped' obesity patterns, meaning they gain their weight in the butt and thighs) that this excess persistent weight would be more prominent in African-Americans.

Hope I didn't lose you with all that seemingly scientific garble! But that's the best answer I have found!

it's obviously genetic. some girls are blessed with features that other girls wish THEY had.

but, there are also other ethnities with larger read ends as well: asian girls, white girls, etc.
it's not ONLY the blacks and latinas.

I honestly don't know, but ive been told its genetics.

I do know that generally speaking, its more acceptable for black/latina women to have big butts, than it is for white women.

But its not just black/latina women, ive seen more than a few white women who could put even me to shame in that area. lol

society might also play a role in the fact that I've seen white women with big butts but they try to either hid it or lose it because they live in a society that pushes the image that having a smaller booty is the ideal of sexy.

where as Blacks and Latinas are more likely to be in areas where having a big booty is pushed as the ideal of sexiness.

i have a good sized rear, and i have met many a white chick who has a substatial sized rear. i don't kno, sometimes having a larger rear in some places is loved. not were i live! the smaller, the better! but were i live, we have quite a lot of latinas. but they also want smaller everything.

No offense, but how about saying "African-American" or "Black" women?

Genetics do play a part--most of the women in my family have big firm "Apple Bottom" butts.

Pro: Most guys like breasts, legs, etc...not my boyfriend! Anytime I have to reach up or bend down for anything...suddenly he appears like a ghost. Kinda creeps me out at times... ;)
