...On everything from stereo instructions to dubbed movies is insulting to Spanish speakers?

It suggests that, unlike Germans, Italians, Irish, and everyone else who showed up before them, they aren't smart enough to learn English.

I'm serious!

What do you think?

Technically, The United States has no official state language. There are several reasons why many products have Spanish on them in addition to English. First of all, many products sold in the US are also sold all over Latin America. It is more cost effective for a company to simply design and produce one set of instructions with two languages on it or one box with two languages on it that having separate marketing schemes for different regions. Second, there are 40 million Spanish speakers in the US. Many of whom do not speak English. It only makes sense for businesses to make their product accessible to Spanish speakers in addition to those who speak English because then there is the chance to make more money. The fact that most things have Spanish and English is a simple question of economics, its not insulting.

I think that sometimes. My beloved is Russian, and didn't need Cyrillic on everything in order to get around. My grandparents, from Russia and Hungary, also got along fine.
