I am christian and have friends who are black, white, chinese, christian, jewish and muslim. I see all of the above as people and respect their differences and am genuinely interested in their points oif view. Who else thinks the heads of state, presidents and prime ministers are whipping up a storm?? I wish they'd stop! surely most people on the ground just want to get on with their lives.

I am looking for some practical means of differenciating the American people from the American government in the world scene. I, as most real Americans, am tired of being treated like I want to go slaughter the muslims and steal their oil or that I give a crap wether or not the rest of the world eats or starves. But how do we Americans convince the world that the American government does not in any way represent the American people.

It is a well documented fact that the average American has little or no knowledge regarding world history, geography, politics, current affairs etc! For any Americans out there, do you agree with this statement or regard this as an unfair assumption?? PS - I am not anti American!!!

Why is it that white folkes are so obcess with their precieve inability to use the "N" word and their obvious resentment that some blacks use it freely.

So I am sure this has come up already but maybe not about this topic.

I understand this word that he used repeatdly is probably one of the worst in our language, however why can black people take such offense when they say it to themselves? There were people in the audience who kept heckling and calling him honky which I am sure fueled his anger. However, what he did was not justified at all.

Also why is not as big a deal for black people to call a white person, honky or cracker or other racially profiling comments, not even just against white people but also racially derogatory comments towards mexicans as well as asians or visa versa.

What he did and said was uncalled for, but isn't it just as bad to do it to everyone? An apology can only go so far. Wouldn't it be wiser to address the issue of racism in general, and focus on equality and not just focus on the black race?

Now before anyone gets mad at me and call me a racist, I just want to say that I am a very open-minded and accepting person. My parents believe a lot of stereotypes about other cultures, and I didn't want to become like them. But after meeting several black people at my university (and I mean several), I've realized that most of the stereotypes associated with blacks are true. They seem to have no control over the volume of their voices. Whenever they're in a group, they cause way too much ruckus. It disturbs everyone around them. And everyone's afraid to tell them to lower their voices because they are soo abrasive. They also have no respect for other people. One day, three black people were blocking a door. I was walking towards it to go through and they didn't even move. They knew I was coming; they were looking right at me! I had to say excuse me b4 one of them actually move. I have met very very few blacks who I would consider decent.

Anyone agree with me?

For people not from the US: How do you view the US particularly its citizens?
I have an essay (its due Wednesday) but I think I need more opinions on the subject then I have at the moment. This isn't a time for hate but it is a time to express your opinion, if that opinion is a negative one, then so be it but tell me why you have such a view. I appreciate the help and your time, thank you.

ps. I will be posting a similar question soon strictly for US citizens in a second. So if you are from the US and you'd like to answer this question, please go there.

Misconceptions, misinformation, and often complete ignorance in regards to Canadian culture, geography, politics, language, weather and just lifestyle in general is evident especially in everyday American media, in spite of Canada being right next door. Do American schools place little importance on geography or social studies outside of U.S. borders ? If so, why?
