Now before anyone gets mad at me and call me a racist, I just want to say that I am a very open-minded and accepting person. My parents believe a lot of stereotypes about other cultures, and I didn't want to become like them. But after meeting several black people at my university (and I mean several), I've realized that most of the stereotypes associated with blacks are true. They seem to have no control over the volume of their voices. Whenever they're in a group, they cause way too much ruckus. It disturbs everyone around them. And everyone's afraid to tell them to lower their voices because they are soo abrasive. They also have no respect for other people. One day, three black people were blocking a door. I was walking towards it to go through and they didn't even move. They knew I was coming; they were looking right at me! I had to say excuse me b4 one of them actually move. I have met very very few blacks who I would consider decent.

Anyone agree with me?

Ok first of all I'm black. A. I do talk with a normal indoor voice when I'm inside or outside of a building. I never cause a rukus as you put it, I'm actually very soft spoken and people actually tell me to speak up so they can hear me. B. I'm far from being abrasive if you tell me to hold it down if I do get loud, I'm not deaf and I do hear and acknowledge you. C. If I see you coming towards me or walking past and I may be in the way, I will move out of the way. Lastly I really think you need to be around more than just several black people, because not everyone is as rude as you think. I mean sure you may have only experienced younger black people at your school acting rude and things like that, but don't act like anyone else doesn't talk loud and are too rude to move out of the way when they see someone coming. I'm at a college too, and its predominately white, and I will tell you there are many white older and younger people that don't like to move out of my way either. But do I really lump them all together and say that I don't like them because they talk too loud or don't move? No I don't, I figure if you are nicer to people they will be nicer to you. So if you just barrel through people and expect them to move of course they are going to cop the same bad attitude and get louder and present more of that behaviour you don't like. I say before you just assume the worst about all blacks because you have only experienced several college aged kids acting that way, I say go to places where there are older blacks around, see if they treat you with respect or not. If you get the same feeling then your feelings are founded. But don't just lump everyone together off one age group.

i'm 0.5 Portuguese which ability i'm tanner than maximum white human beings. So as quickly as I tell those that i'm 0.5 Portuguese they are in a position to the two think of that i'm Hispanic or no longer. some human beings think of in case you're Portuguese you're Hispanic, yet via definition Portuguese and Brazilian human beings are not. So some human beings will evaluate me area Hispanic and others won't. I, inspite of the undeniable fact that, evaluate myself no longer. this is an argument of opinion. Being proud is an entire different element nonetheless. Am I proud? particular. Do I consistently communicate approximately my race or ethnicity? No. Do I extra healthful into any stereotypes? No, i'm my own guy or woman.

I wanna start by saying... Whenever a foreigner stereotypes Americans, it really bothers me. Stereotyping hurts, no matter who you are. Sometimes it hurts cause it IS true... and usually because it's not true at all about you and there's nothing you can really say to defend yourself.
The worst part about this whole situation is the fact that the ignorant people you were referrencing will never read your question. They're off blocking a door somewhere. Instead, you've inadvertantly insulted a number of intelligent black people.
My grandpa used to tell me : If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
If you don't like black people, I suggest just keep it to yourself and be the polite person you'd like all of them to be to you.
Good luck.

This is so ridiculous - it hardly deserves any attention, let alone an answer.

You feel that the "several black people" you met represent the entire cultural group of blacks? You should go back and study more because it is apparent that your brain is fried.

You walk around in a society where everyone is polite and quiet, I suppose. People see you and immediately move away because they know you are trying to walk right between them.

You poor little sheltered child - its a wonder you weren't mauled by them. Be careful, I hear that some of those rowdy blacks eat scared little white girls.

In speaking of a 'certain' race in 'general' .. i must say there is a HUGE difference in the behavior in the blacks in the US and in Brazil.

I live in New Orleans, but am half Brazilian.. i dont know how the blacks here have become so different from the ones in Brazil.
Everyone in brazil is viewed as the same. Blacks and whites.. the japanese and germans.. etc everyone. and everyone acts the same.. dresses the same.. talks to the same. and everyone treats everyone else the same. No race trys to differ themselves from anyother. and thats the weird part.. b/c .. Portugal was the once to start the whole slave trade. if that has anything to do with it. i do understand why some people would get affended by what you said. There are many intelligent blacks just like any other race....but speaking 'in general' about the US.. its the truth.

First let me say I am sorry you fill that way and please realize that you have only met a small percent of blacks and they are not all that way I think most of the problem is a difference in cultures in black culture you half to be loud to be heard or a least it seems that way from my observation there is a segment which I call trash whether they are Black White or Hispanic or Asian and racism seem to comes from all sides as a person of mixed race I learn to accept people as individuals after all I can never be white enough or black enough to please everyone. I think most people are good if you give them a chance.

excuse you but black people in general are like that cuz they wer'nt shown respect themselves. if white people can see a black person an to expect them to say exuse me, black people should expect the same. A black person could be standing and a white person would just go through without saying anything. I dont know what kinda person YOU are because it is 2006. racism towards black people is over. so if you wanna be like that you need to ship your butt to germany where they're all white or somthing.

Well, seems that way sometimes. And some are like that, but
really not ALL are rude and abrasive, with no social skills. I know
some black peeps that are really nice, or cool, ya know? So, I
really hate to stereotype. Sometimes when peeps get in their own
clicks ( and they stick like clue), they can be that way, and its a
shame. SHAME on them !!! Whoever you are! lol Believe me I
have seen some trashy white peeps too. It's not ALWAYS color.
People are people. Whether they are decent, or @ssholes.

I completely disagree with you. Although you say that you are not racist, it really sounds like you are. I've met many African Americans that act like what you just described, but I've also met African Americans that are nothing like the stereotypes. Every race has some people that are rude and annoying, and others that are not. That is not a reason to make generalizations like you are doing....

Well,I guess your white.I could look at this question and call every white person I see racist, rude and stupid,or I could ignore you and look at you as one idiot who just happens to be white.Anybody can stereotype.Obviously most of the black people you met were not smart. You have never met me.So don't smash me together with the black people you have met. Were not connected. We all have a mind of our own.We are just people like anybody else.I have never been called loud.I'm very to myself, and I don't talk that much because of people like you.I can't stand dealing with rude people. You really need to open up your mind a little bit more.Do you really want people to say "I hate black people too."Are you serious?Do you really want people to say that? What if somebody asked "humans are so stupid they can't even get along anyone agree with me?"I'm sure you can agree that's wrong and a stupid thing to ask.I hate to say it,but I have met a few black people who were not that smart and were very violent. You can't put us all together like that though.I don't know why you don't understand that. This question is very rude and insulting and you know that.
