So I am sure this has come up already but maybe not about this topic.

I understand this word that he used repeatdly is probably one of the worst in our language, however why can black people take such offense when they say it to themselves? There were people in the audience who kept heckling and calling him honky which I am sure fueled his anger. However, what he did was not justified at all.

Also why is not as big a deal for black people to call a white person, honky or cracker or other racially profiling comments, not even just against white people but also racially derogatory comments towards mexicans as well as asians or visa versa.

What he did and said was uncalled for, but isn't it just as bad to do it to everyone? An apology can only go so far. Wouldn't it be wiser to address the issue of racism in general, and focus on equality and not just focus on the black race?

Spot on! I'm right behind you!

I think people these days are really looking to get offended and they pick on everything others do but forget that they do it themselves.

Racism is all over and needs to be addressed in total because there's been too many incidents lately(Mel Gibson) and people have to start looking each other in the eye and understand that we are all the same and even make the same mistake of being resits!

DAMMIT, Lilli's_Mommy stole my answer! even though it really is basically authentic. Richards' occupation quite somewhat ended with the stunning episode of SEINFELD. He made the blunders of no longer having something else to fall decrease back on besides doing stand-up, which he of direction lost the knack for. Jerry doesn't favor the money; Julia ultimately broke the "after-SEINFELD" curse, or perhaps as Jason isn't doing Broadway, he's doing a movie right here and there. None of them might want to really favor the money by now. i do not comprehend what Richards' subject is like, yet I sensible wish he did an really good interest of 'saving for a moist day', because for him at the moment, that's pouring like cats and dogs. And BTW, with Mel that's finished distinct ballgame. the kinds of worry they both were given into were similar, yet Mel retreated in the back of the relative safe practices of a digicam. He hasn't made an visual attraction in video clips in fairly a lengthy time period, and as he receives extra manic, it really is a lot less and a lot less in all probability. yet he did have a "Plan B." Michael Richards probable did not.

if one uses the word as defined properly there should be no problem however the misuse has impinged on common usage
and that is even more deplorable and hypocritical than the original complaint of stereo typing or that of racial slurring... .
Every ethnic group has gone through this sort of thing without
the ridiculous unconstitutional approach as political correctness would apply but we don't censor Whop, Guinea,Sp!c or mick or chink so
what's the big difference let the Heebs, the ugly Americans the "n's" and the fairies grow some skin and stop dignifying these childish slang's with childish responses cause they r
found all throughout the USA. But don't censor the !st amendment unless you intend to re-write the entire thing for everyone.
peace out!

Well fair's fair. I think that due (that guy that heckled him) had it coming. It was smart of him to take advantage of the heckling, add it to his act. As you can see in the video clip, it worked for a while. After that he got obsessive. People get bored easily, he should have moved on after the first few lines. In comedy, I think you don't want to stay on the same subject for too long. People are easily bored. Someone tries to get at you, you get back at him. It's a comedy club, the rules are a little less tight. He jokes with you, you joke with him. But after that you move on. It just gets sad if you start obsessing about it. After that it's not funny any more.

this has to do with our country turning to crap, I can remember reading about all the slavery issues and even 150 years after that the black community still want to complain about the impartial treatment they received when they were slaves. We called them the "N" word then , there are guys that still call them that, but they say it them selves as a sort of tag or nickname, Kinda like "dude", or "man". throughout the history of of america, I am sure our ancestors did alot of wrong, but the way I see it is "If it wasnt for my great, great, grandfather fighting in the cival war, then Micheal Jordan and Denzel Washington, would still be pickin cotton in the field. I believe they throw a fit about it because it is the only thing they have to hold over our white heads. I am not racist because we all bleed the same color and that is the only color that needs to be looked upon. Slavery was 200 years ago. We have given it a rest and they will not allow us to and right now they out populate us 2 to 1. Now who's the slave. Just remember what we did to the indians, gave em disease and shot them and took there land. But anyone who has to degrade someone because of their race is showing off their true color.... Ignorance.

This debate has been going on since slavery ended.
I dont think its right for anyone to call anyone else a racist name.
God created us humans all equal, we all have feelings and deserve respect.
No one is any better or worse than the next guy.
Name calling is the cowards foolish way of avoiding showing your true feelings.

Smart black people don't use that word. The only people not just black who use that word are completely stupid.Black people who say that word make me mad as hell because it makes idiots like Kramer think it is okay to say it.The word is insulting no matter who wants to say it.No black person has the right to insult another white person because of their skin color.Skin color can change anytime.Look at Micheal Jackson.

The black race is inferior by most metrics (IQ, economic prospects, culture, crime statistics, etc).

But Richards was wrong where Mel Gibson wasn't because Richards did it in a public forum in front of paying guests. Not every black person acts like a n_gger, although many do. Imagine if you were one of the upstanding blacks in the audience, or even a white person whose show was ruined.

You will never "address the issue of racism" in a form acceptable to you, likely becuase you believe that there is no inherent difference between the races. There are indeed, however Richards was very bad about showing his acknowledgement of this fact of reality.

It's human nature to respond with hate if someone shows hate to you. IF a black person was to go to an all white comedy club and do racist jokes he would be treated just as bad. It's called common sense and respect. Foxworthy can do redneck jokes in his crowd and black comedians can do "black" jokes in their clubs. Just like Mencia do Mexican jokes.
