Do black people (or African-Americans, egyptians, jamaicans...etc) get offended when they are called black? (by other races) If you're American, do you prefer African American? But not all black people are from Africa, so technically, the term "African American" is wrong, isn't it? Plus, if a black friend calls you their "N" word, why is it wrong for you to do the same? It's kind of weird to me, and I want to know why this is. My friends told me they don't care if I call them black, (i'm asian) but it's an insult if I call them my "N" word. Is it because of slavery in the past? I just wanted other people's views. Is it wrong for caucasians to be called white? Is it an insult for a caucasian to be called white by another race?

I'm 30 and recently managed a 6-month project. My boss was a woman who was a couple of years younger than me. She often came across as if she was talking down to me like I was a child. Is this is control technique with some women?

Do you belive the sterotypes that?
white people cant dance?
black people are lazy?
chinese people are smart?
mexicans are hoods and thugs?
black people love chicken,watermelon and ribs?
white people smell funny when it rains?
do you think if a white person grew up in a black neighborhood they would take on "black characteristics" or vise verse?
im not trying to be ignorant this is actually very intresting to me...I am black and yes I have a big bootie I love chicken..but I cant dance or sing...is this due to my suburban upbringing or my college degree?...............hmmmm you be the judge!!

I hear something daily from one "group" or another. Whether they're a race-based group; Or a religion-based group; Or some other sort of special classification of one "segment" or another. Why don't more of us realize we're all, each of us, individuals? We're not Christians, Muslims, or Jews...we're people. We're not black, white, or brown...we're people! How can we stop these fools from exploiting us?

Every time I see an American movie or TV show that depicts people from the southern states, they are always "rednecks", "hillbillies" or "trailer trash". Even positive ones like "Fried Green Tomatoes" are very hokey and stereotyped.

Anyone who posts a question about incest on YA will get at least one smart-aleck reference to Alabama.

Do people from the southern states get fed up with this portrayal, or do you find it witty and amusing?

Are there any shows and movies we're not getting that depict people from the south as intelligent, sophisticated and deeply insightful people?

a few of my white guys told me they wouldn't mind using black women for a good time but they wouldn't want everyone to know. I thought that was disrespectful and mean. I just visited an independent community for my Survey of American Culture class. They are almost completely self sufficient. It is 100 people living for the good of the group. I was very surprised how their system of life was so organized. So, has anyone ever lived on a commune, or been to one?

I see Mormon people all over the place....and the girls are always wearing these ugly dresses and have really long hair....but the guys look stylish and everything....and the girls don't ever look too happy to me....

I really don't believe in the death sentance but I think someon who is a serial killer or a rapist deserves to die. I think that the police needs to stop filling the prisions with drug dealers and need to pay more attention to all of these pedophilles trying to kidnapped little kids.

i have an eighteen yr old son that smoke mostly soap bar and im really worried about the effects on his health with plastic and diesel pressed into it, im not anti dope because i beleive it causes less harm to society than alcahol does, gurus for thousands of years have smoked weed to become more spiritually enlightened,but the stuff these kids are smoking is toxic and results in ahacking cough for all who partake.
