I`m white, i love chicken, ribs, and I will kill anyone for a great tasting watermelon. Sterotypes are the invention of the extremely insecure, phobic, racist and others of a similar ilk, they invented them, so that they can have a feeling of superiority. But, i have to laugh, that one about the odor of white people after it rains, is a new one on me, that is the funniest thing i have heard in awhile. Now, as for your thought on a white person growing up in a black neighborhood, well, i spent 3 months in New Zealand quite awhile back, and i will admit, i did pick up a "kiwi" accent, as for that, if anyone lives in a different social situation for an extended time, they will pick up some local customs, speech, tastes etc.. you can`t help it, unless you totally isolate yourself from those you live among. Every person on this rock, is completely different from each other, they will react differently to the same stimuli, one will like chicken, one will not and so on. Granted, I dance as well as or better than a plate of jello in an earthquake, but you have Mickhail Barishnikov, and that one guy who river dances, if you call it dancing, and of all the black people I have known, only one could have been classed as lazy, the rest? Just like pretty much everyone else on the planet, just doing their thing, trying to get by in the rat race we call the world. Mexicans have the same problem everyone does, the main reason they get a bad rap, is the crime that is commited by the drug cartels in the process of moving drugs north, and the illegal border crossings. Oriental gang troubles in the bay area and points north etc... It is everywhere, so unfortunately, wherever you go, there will be some form of sterotyping, the only way to get past it is in the home! Racism, sterotyping and so on, are learned responses, they are not inborn, once we can have ALL children everywhere raised, and not being taught those things, then we are well on our way to a happier world with far less problems that we face today.

The truth is that stereotypes are based on an observation of a certain group of people. Now the problem lies in the fact that the observation was made on a small segment of a group of people. I can tell you that if you check your history you will see where a lot of them come from. At one point in time a lot of the black in this country were poor people. Poor people ate chicken since it was the cheapest meat you could buy along with ribs which if not cooked slowly are so chewy nobody with a little bit of money would buy ribs since it was way to much trouble to cook them correctly. As for the watermelon it is really good to eat on hot days when you have been working in the heat all day.As for white people not being able to dance that comes from a difference in the way white people danced compared to black folks. White people danced more conservatively than blacks. The thing with Chinese people is from the fact that Chinese people had a few inventions long before other countries , like gunpowder , alas they took it and invented fire crackers and white took their invention of gunpowder and invented guns.I have never heard that Mexicans are hoods and thugs. As for your question to whether a person would take on black characteristics if raised by blacks the answer is yes. The same holds true for any person raised by anyone, just as you have the same mannerisms as your parents or who ever raised you. A child learns from his or her surroundings.Oh and I have never heard that white people smell if caught in the rain. I can not even imagine how that got started, since rain has no smell and when a person gets wet they usually get clean as the water washes dirt and sweat off the body.Maybe a lazy black person ask a smart Chinese person why does that white guy smell funny. The Chinese guy used his smart brain and looked over the white guy and he could see he was all wet which lead him to believe that since it was raining that day that white people must stink from a reaction to the rain water , when in fact the white guy had been hard at work and was sweating all day in the sunshine afore the rains came and he was just plain dirty and nasty form hard work since he was a white guy and we all know white guys work harder than anyone else. Did I mention the white guy was also being mugged by two Mexican hoods and thugs while this was going on.

Geezzzz. Are you seriously asking this? Anyone living in a cave with just electricity and a TV can see the absurdity. Change channels. It helps.
Flippancy aside, you are the some total of everything that has happened to you directly and indirectly from the moment of conception to this moment right now. Same holds for each and every other person out there. Enjoy the differences, learn from them, experience them, appreciate them, grow. That holds for your own uniqueness as well as the uniqueness of others. The only box there is is the one in your own mind. Don't stick yourself or anyone else in it. Dark and clostrophic, boxes are really not so nice inside.

I think environment/experience could/should account for more of who a person is than the color of their skin; like an Inner City White kid from a drug/gang neighborhood could be more "street" than a Black one who grew up in Suberbia. But,really, i hate streotypes. That's why it's nice to see White and Chinese rappers (Eminem and Jin) and a Black Country singer (Cowboy Troy). It's good to see Hollywood is starting to "blur the edges" a little bit. If only everyone could.

I am white and I am a big fan of Fried Chicken Ribs and I enjoy watermelon. But you forgot one of my favorites and thats some yummy cornbread. Stereotypes are stupid. One of my best friends in the world is a black man and we've gone out to eat and gotten ribs together before. It was a good time.

I love being black i would not want to be anything else!
maybe! a persons personality is affected by their parents, and their environment, but everyone should be a leader not a follower, anyone and everyone has the potential to be something great!

We are all different. I have met black folks that like country music! I am white and I love fried chicken and watermelon. I don't believe in judging a book by it's cover and I believe in knowing people by the content of their character. I believe in God Almighty and having high moral standards.
