I met one and didn't like him very much. He was very rude and pushy. So, I wanted to know if it was just him or if German people are like that in general.

He was a realtor so maybe that had something to do with it. I don't really know.

THIS QUESTION IS NOT MEANT TO OFFEND ANYONE. IF IT HAS I AM SORRY, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE INTENT. If you read my details you would see, I don't want to make any assumptions or generalizations, maybe it was just him or maybe it was a cultural difference. That is what I am trying to figure out. If I knew any other German person I wouldn't be asking.

My grandmother was German and the most loving and sweet person in my life...But ask your self this...If the person you met where of your ancestry would you still wonder the same question...There are good and bad people from all walks of life, and there are also good people who have bad days..Have you ever lashed out at some one you didn't intend to and maybe thought about it later, like a worker at a fast food counter or a telephone operator, or even some one on the net. This doesn't make you a bad person (unless you would be the type of person to do this to every one, which most people aren't).
He may have just had a bad day.

I've known many german people over the years, only one of which has a bad attitude. It only takes one person from any culture or race to leave a bad impression for the rest of the group. I hope you realize that one rude german does not represent the rest of the people from the german heritage.

I happen to come from so many steryotypes that I cant stand when someone even hints at them. One poor exprerence with a person doesnt mean they're whole race is that way. I dont get along with som epeople simply because I dont like their personality and that's probably all it was. Yes, I do know a German person, and she isnt rude or pushy.

Don't be silly you can't judge an entire country of people on one person. That's the same asking if all Americans are rude. The questions lies on a very broad and inappropriate subject.

It's just the guy. He sounds like a putz. Germans are like any human culture. They've got good people, bad people and everything in between

Of course not all Germans are like that. That's a big generalization. I have a nice German classmate. And one of my friends is half-German, and we get along fine. (Her mom is German, and she's really very nice.)

Anyone can be rude, and perhaps your comment about his career could have something to do with it, but perhaps not. This person's unfamiliarity with our language and/or customs can also have something to do with his behavior - try not to judge too harshly, as he may have been quite uncomfortable himself.
