The argument has been put forward that, by responding to homophobic posts, we are, in effect, "troll accomplices" because it encourages the homophobes out there to continue to ask offensive "questions" at our expense.
Clearly, the homophobes do this because they are sexually insecure and need to feel better about themselves. But I started thinking about this as a symbiotic kind of exchange, and wondered, what if we get something out of it, too?
What if it's helpful to have a forum in which to respond to our antagonists directly? To challenge them? Dare I say, to have some FUN with them?
I'll be the first to admit that I get a petty sliver of satisfaction from sharpening my proverbial claws on the moronic rant of some dimwitted Bible-thumping hillbilly jacktard. Yes, I confess, I do enjoy telling the evangelical teeny-bopping Jesus freaks where to shove it. (The pithier, the better.) I only wish they didn't make it so damn easy to make them look so damn stupid.
Thoughts?
