I am 23 years old and it really makes me mad when my Dad says, "are you gay?" all the time!. I have had girlfriends on and off and I have had one for the past five months. I am not feminine, I love football beer, girls, etc. No one in my life has ever accused me of being gay but him. I am not against gay people, but I just am not gay myself. One example of when he asked if I was gay was when I invited a guy friend to come hang out when I was with my girlfriend, or just today I talked about how I didn't think a certain place was good for a family vacation because it doesn't have a village with a night life. Or when I trim up my chest hair with a beard trimmer. He just seems so immature to me and childish to accuse me of being gay for stupid things. I told him that he is immature and might be gay himself since he is so concerned about it. I really just want to punch him in his face next time. What should I do?

Bang your Mom and show your Dad how it is SUPPOSED to be done. Once he realizes that you are better than him, he will leave you alone.

u should sit down....and tell him with a firm but controlled voice that u are NOT gay. and ask him why is he accusing u of such? and if he still rambles and beats around the bush, ask him what would he do if u WERE gay...(and that for a minute will make him think u may be gay..but ur just setting him up for the next question) When and If he answers ask him is he gay....ask him if thats why he is getting on u about it...and ask him is that a fear of his.....if he fears he will have a gay son, and assure him that u are NOT gay, and that u are just yourself, u love woman, and thats all there is to it.

lol. I was going to say he might be gay himself but your interest like football doesn't mean you aren't gay. There's masculine gay men who enjoy sports and stuff just like straight men. Being macho/masculine and enjoying all the things that a straight men would (instead of women of course) does not mean you aren't gay. Anyone could be gay and the only way of knowing is if the person tells you.

Most guys ARE immature and childish. Fart jokes, senseless violence, food and sleeping. He probably calls you gay because you care how you look and present yourself...Most guys just go and throw on some clothes they've already worn 5 times before because they haven't spilled much food on it yet. If you act mature, clean and pressed then yes fathers who grew up back when guys only acted like that if they WERE gay, are going to think you are too. He's not gay himself, he just doesn't see you acting like he thinks you should.

Turn the tables on him and keep asking HIM is he's gay in front of all his friends when they're all watching football! OR you could come up to him when he's drinking with his buddies and you could say, totally serious, "Dad, I'm concerned about your gay lifestyle. Sex with underage boys is not okay." and THEN you punch him in the face!!!!

Well my dad always accused me of this since I was 11 years old. And I never played with dolls, or wore girlie stuff, or did blatant behavior as effeminate. Yet he INSISTED that people in the neighborhood were talking about me as being a f.a.g. cause I never have any girlfriends to hang out with.
however in my case I am gay and he was right in his hunch.
I told him that he was a closet case - a prissy, holier-than-thou fairy if there ever was one.
I got my revenge soon afterwards. I had a local Italian guy that I used to buy drugs from. One day he came over and we snorted coke in my room. I thought the door was locked but it wasn't. As soon as Vinnie got stoned on the rush of coke, he said "Come here and go down on me! - And I did just as he asked. Boy did I guzzle down that salami ! And i loved it.
Suddenly the door of the room opened a crack, and I saw my father's ugly face peeking on us thru the opening . he mumbled a few curses in Arabic and walked away.
So U know what - I decided to pretend not to notice my dad standing there and I went back to blowing my friend Vinnie on my bed. And I gave Vinnie a happy ending. I did this just to spite my prissy wuss of a father.
later that night - MY father just acted his usual self and so did I.
So what U think of how I handled it. ?? I did that to punish my dad for peeking like a sneaky old lady. since he said I was gay - i decided to show him just how gay I really was !!!!!!!!!

I don't think punching you dad in the face will make things any better. I do think you should sit down with him and try to find out why he is saying this to you.

Ask him if it would really make any difference? Point out the fact that you are 2 different people, not his clone, and you are your own person. Tell him straight out that it bothers you and if he continues to act that way you won't have anything else to do with him.

Maybe he got something against gays,maybe his biggest fear is you being gay,are maybe he like that dad from American Beauty,Chris cooper not Kevin spacey.
