Has their ever been a society...?

Has their ever been a society in which GLBT people were treated as equals to Heterosexuals. I heard that the Romans and Greeks did. But I do not know how accurate that is...

Being LGBT was acceptable in much of the world before christianity spread. Then all sorts of differences became punishable by death depending on who translated the bible used in that area. It was acceptable in much of Europe at least. There were even gay and lesbian handfastings performed back then, which is very similar to a marriage.

Yes, in both greek and roman societies it was accepted as normal behavior. I find the Native Americans had the best treatment of homosexuals. Many tribes treated us a special beings called two spirits and gave us a special reverence in their communities.

Being that my dad was full blooded Native American and I am therefore half blooded and have researched this question to it's fullest over the years, I can honestly say: Gays and lesbians were treated as very special people. As for B & T I have no idea.

The Greeks and Romans did not have sex with the same gender as equals. The "men" did it with teenage boys and male slaves. "Real men" were not supposed to be physically penetrated. They were the ones who penetrated women and males of lower status.

The Romans and Greeks had massive orgies, seriously, and they really didn't care. They looked at everyone as equal, and didn't care who they loved....just as long as they loved.
