Straight people are probably happier. They are the majority, and they make the rules for ettiquette, society, and pretty much everything mainstream. They are the ones who teach the children (for the most part), and they are the ones who embrace the flaws in our various religious texts which condemn homosexuality. They are the ones who pass laws, again because they make up the majority of voters.
Being as they have sucha tremendous influence over everything, but mostly what children come to believe about homosexuality and gay people, most of them portray homosexuality as gross, immoral, etc. because they believe that if they do, their children will either not turn out to be gay, or they will be sufficiently afraid of social ostrazation and/or violence that they will hide their true orientation, and therefore not embarass/shame their parents.
Okay well, I need sleep haha, so maybe you can make sense out of my bad grammar, and maybe not.
Be well.

No offense, but I think this is a rather silly question. Is gay/straight a simple binary, or are these nodes of a complex and very human spectrum? Let's assume a binary for now, for the sake of exposition. Presumably, a "straight" person is happy being "straight" just as a "gay" person is happy being "gay." The only time you'd get a meaningful dissonance is when a "straight" person tried to live a "gay" lifestyle incompatible with her or his "nature" or vice-versa. However, since I fundamentally believe that humans are rather versatile sexually, the premise of your question makes it too narrow and pre-fab to get a meaningful answer.

God would you religionists get out of our gay community please? You have your own place to defile.
And generally speaking, it's kind of sad to admit but I think straight people are happier 'as a whole' because they can easily and visibly be themselves without fear of being harrassed or bulllied or belittled or made to feel less than human.
But that's just generalizing people in groups, because of course there are gay people that are incredibly happy. But that happiness comes from acceping themselves and not trying to 'normalize' into something that was never there's to begin with (ie being straight).

I'm gay and I am happier than most of my hetero friends. I don't think it has anything to do with gay or straight. It depends on how you live your life and what you make of it.

You really can not get a straight up answer to this.
It's debatable due to we are all people
Just like who is happier men or women?
or Married or not?
Single or Divorced?
Depends on why, who and how people feel as individuals!
I am heterosexual but have seen at times where there were gay people were happier at that time, so who knows!

I think gay people are happier because they've accepted themselves for who they are, which some straight peopleare in complete denial about the smallest things.

Straight and Christian every time whether you are man, woman, boy, girl, single, married, divorced, widowed, you are never "empty" when you have Jesus in your heart and life. He fulfils every longing a soul can have that cannot be fulfilled in any other way in this life. Jesus in the heterosexual monogamous home wins hands down every time from every angle. Is there one single person who is homosexual who wishes their parents had been homosexual also? (or if they were, wishes they hadn't been?)
