The argument has been put forward that, by responding to homophobic posts, we are, in effect, "troll accomplices" because it encourages the homophobes out there to continue to ask offensive "questions" at our expense.

Clearly, the homophobes do this because they are sexually insecure and need to feel better about themselves. But I started thinking about this as a symbiotic kind of exchange, and wondered, what if we get something out of it, too?

What if it's helpful to have a forum in which to respond to our antagonists directly? To challenge them? Dare I say, to have some FUN with them?

I'll be the first to admit that I get a petty sliver of satisfaction from sharpening my proverbial claws on the moronic rant of some dimwitted Bible-thumping hillbilly jacktard. Yes, I confess, I do enjoy telling the evangelical teeny-bopping Jesus freaks where to shove it. (The pithier, the better.) I only wish they didn't make it so damn easy to make them look so damn stupid.

Thoughts?

Let's not confuse the issue and make this more difficult than it has to be. There are fundamentally only two types of questions we should all concern ourselves with. There are legitimate questions and non-legitimate questions.

Legitimate questions can take many forms and have varied contents. Some of these may be extremely controversial but still be legitimate. Others can be humorous, satirical or poke fun at LGBT and its members. But a legitimate question is not hate inspired nor is it defamatory. It may seek information. It may challenge the lifestyle of lesbians and gays. It may satirize that lifestyle even. But a legitimate question is never hateful. These question you can address in kind and have your fun or meet the challenge or correct misinformation to your heart's content. But keep in mind, we don't want them converting us and it is impossible to convert them (the worst abusers).

On the other hand, the only important characteristic of non-legitimate questions is that they are hate inspired and filled with slurs and derogatory remarks directed against LGBT and its members and their lifestyle. These are the only types of question we should want to eradicate from this group.

Learn to recognize the difference between a legitimate question and one that is not. It is not that difficult to do.

CONTROVERSY GOOD
INFORMATION SEEKING GOOD
HUMOR AND SATIRE GOOD
CHALLENGE FREE OF HATE GOOD

HATE INSPIRED QUESTIONS BAD
DEFAMATION BAD
CHALLENGE WITH HATE BAD

It's just that simple. If you don't already know hate when you see it, now is the time to learn.

We don't want to exclude controversy, challenge or humor from these pages. All we want to exclude is the hate.

We can have our cake or symbiosis and eat it too. Let's just stop wallowing in the toxic hate.

I like you. Nice diction. *smiles* However, if given the choice of having to deal with these jackoffs or not, then I'd obviously choose the latter. I do not wish to be bothered by such idiots to begin with. If I've got a problem with someone, I can say it directly to them, face-to-face. I'm sorry to say that I do not derive as much pleasure from utterly bitching those homophobes out as you purportedly feel. *shrugs* We're all different... but you make a good point.

It's true - it is a sick symbiotic relationship. And yet, there's almost something beautiful in the dysfunction of it all <(^_^)> Just kidding, seriously though, you're right. But generally if you ignore their first post, they go spamming the rest of the board until they get a response. It's like they get off on adversity and won't rest until they get it.

haha omg I hella love you dude, you're funny and smart.

Umm it's a good idea, but it has a tendency to backfire. I've seen it happen before. You have to be involved, but if you let your emotions get the better of you (because they WILL say some things in attempt to 'trigger' you) you will essentially let them 'win' and drain you of your energy.

To **** with people, it takes putting feelings aside, which many people can't do.

But, morally speaking, they do deserve 'all the ******* with they can get.'

Exaclty just what I was just about to write hehe. It's true we do spur them on by getting angry. I think people are toning it down these days though because we are realising that fact.

We do get something out of it I think. We can either let our anger out or we can convert them hehe.

People are people.

Once upon a time someone tried to prove blacks weren't people.
