I am not gay, so I couldn't possibly know how you feel or what your family might go through if you told them. You may want to talk to your most liberal family member and seek understanding from them, then with their help, bring the rest of the family in on it. I am saddened for you that you have this very hard road ahead of you and wish you the best of luck. I know I didnt really answer your question, but in a way I did.. it is hard to please everyone, but you are trying by hiding who you are. I hope you can find someone to help you transition your family into understanding your lifestyle.

I feel sad that you have to do this, but I understand. Sometimes, life is just more comfortable and respectful for everyone if you don't act so flagrant about your sexuality.

I would say that perhaps you should just be careful about where you go and what you say while they're in. That's the best you can do to keep from confrontation.

Wow, that's really sad that you feel you have to do that. I mean, I understand, but it's sad that it's necessary.

Maybe chat with your closest friends that you often see around town and let them know you are not out to your family. Tell them you need them to do you the favor of not outing you. Maybe you've got a close female friend you could enlist to hang out w/you frequently during the visit and portray her as your girlfriend? That is, if you can stomach being occasionally affectionate with her in a convincing way.

Then, just kind of hope that you don't run into any ill-willed aquaintences.

Geez, it sucks that things have to be this way for you.

well, first of all, it's not where you are it's what you are doing there...I'm sure that there are lots of straight people in Darlinghurst..I live in a gay village in canada and there are straight people all around me.....I have straight friends and gay friends and so can you...if your relatives ask questions (i doubt that they will) then tell them you're gay or tell them you're not.

Excuse me for asking but I thought you didn't have anything to hide? You folks really send confused messages. If your lifestyle is "right" and you are proud of it, why hide it from the folks?? I can't understand that. Why aren't you convincing them with all the same arguments you use here?? I'm being totally serious, not insulting. I'll even spare you my usual Bible verse to prove my sincerity!

You can get your boyfriend to dress up like a girl... Oh wait a minute that was a humorous movie called, "Birdcage" starring Robbin Williams! In the movie we learned that everybody loves it when you are honest. Come clean. Stop Hiding!!

Love,
Gregory

- Shove all gay-related stuff in your house under your bed or in your attic - just get it out of sight.

- Avoid going to the gay areas of where you live. If you run into someone who knows your gay, run up to them and let them know under your breathe that your family doesn't know (assuming they're with you) before they meet him/her

Good luck!

I would recommend not going out anywhere you might be seen by people who know you're gay.

Also, hide anything that might be an indication.

Possible meeting them somewhere else would be good.
