Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender - November 2006

Most of us have heard the 5% estimate for the proportion of LGBT people in the total population, but where does it come from? How can one measure this if a lot of people are in the closet? Many would not answer such a question if asked. Are there any other estimates? I heard that the religious right usually says 0.01% and Kinsey estimated much higher than 10%. I'm really curious about how to come up with a credible estimate.

Every friendship + reationaship i have ended up being manipulaqted by men either physically or emotionally. Even friendships have been messed up by sex. Ok it takes 2, but i dont like seeeing a mate who i have a real good laugh with turn into a well.....a sheep....loved up...wet........CHANGED!!!!! What are the best international gay friendly cities? Once I finish my degree, I'd like to move outside the U.S. But I have'nt the slightest clue where I'd like to visit. Give me some good examples of cities that are very gay kosher!

If a "straight" guy keeps eye contact with you if you gaze into his eyes does that meen he is intrested could he be bi im really intrested in this guy but he is straight cuz he has a girlfriend but i get an idea that he is bi because when i look at him he gazes back ... and there are a subtle slues to from him getting close to me etc.

Women are taught by media/society to hide their sexual feelings. I don't think this is right. I think this is why men are so confused about women. Also, most of the stuff on television is geared toward men; their sexual thoughts and needs. They hardly ever show a woman's. And lastly, I would like to see more naked men. I have this friend who's naturally hairless. Yesterday I was over at his house helping him place a singles ad. He wanted to describe himself as a hairless bear. I told him I thought bears were hairy. He says he thought bears were atractive and that he didn't want to describe himself as chubby. Because he's not really fat, just an average guy with a little bit of a beer belly. He says describing himself as a hairless bear makes it sound more atractive. lol
I thought that was cute and funny. But then I was wondering, what would a bear would think about this? Is this right describing himself like this? Or would it just be funny? I keep wondering what his responses were. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi, I'm a gay Asian male...and it seems impossible to find dates, mainly bc of my ethnicity. Look, I know that we are not considered the ideal, attractive partner, but I really wish a few good guys existed that could look beyond this one feature. Actually, a lot of people have told me that I am "cute" (of course they were probably lying), but still...it's impossible. Even other Asian guys would never want to date me....they all automatically go for the White guys. Honestly, I'm afraid of ending up one of those lonely old men who never found love in life. The only guys who have ever expressed interest in me are 50 year old desperate men or guys that have some sort of perverted Asian fetish. It's really depressing sometimes. I even tried online personals, but the vast majority automatically rule me out bc of my ethnicity. Their ethnic preferences are always white or hispanic. I'm thinking I should not be so proactive about dating anymore...just let it happen if it happens?

i know that straight people and gay people are the same generally, but i just strongly like gays.
i can't help but squirm when i see gays, they are so cute and perfact...
i don't really know how to explain this, is my over liking of gays means something wrog with me?
i know it's quite a strange question, but someone mentioned to me that it's not normal to treat gays like this(and she's a big homophobe)

"Outing" is revealing someone's sexual preference to other people or the public at large without their knowledge or consent.

I have to write a brief paper for a sociology class on this subject. I know what my opinions are regarding "outing" people; though, I am very interested in knowing what other people think or feel about this process.

Some things to think about—for instance:

*Is it ok to "out" someone if they are living a hypocritical life? [If they are secretly engaging in homosexual activities while publicly denouncing homosexuals.]

*Is it ok to "out" someone because everyone has the right to know who is gay for their own protection? [In the interest of health, such as HIV concerns.]

*Should people NEVER be "outed" because they have the right to privacy and live their lives as they choose, just as everyone else?

If your not really close to your parents...and you wish you were..whats something they could do to get closer to you? My sis ters into dir en grey (sorry if its spelled wrong) but shes always complaining that my dad hates her. He tells me he does but i know he doesnt...she just told us she was gay last year...shes only 17 but she does want to be close to him even tho she says she doesnt. whats something i could get them to do together that would make them get to know eaqch other? thanks for your answers!
