I have this friend who's naturally hairless. Yesterday I was over at his house helping him place a singles ad. He wanted to describe himself as a hairless bear. I told him I thought bears were hairy. He says he thought bears were atractive and that he didn't want to describe himself as chubby. Because he's not really fat, just an average guy with a little bit of a beer belly. He says describing himself as a hairless bear makes it sound more atractive. lol
I thought that was cute and funny. But then I was wondering, what would a bear would think about this? Is this right describing himself like this? Or would it just be funny? I keep wondering what his responses were. What are your thoughts on this?

Do you think he should just say he's an average guy with a little bit of a beer belly? Or keep the hairless bear statement?

Absolutely, he should call himself a bear. Being hairy is just one aspect of beardom--and I've met very few "perfect" bears. Some don't have bellies, some don't have beards, some wouldn't be caught dead camping, and some are quite effeminate. It's just a label to give other guys a general idea of what we are like, and what we are into.

theres more to a bear then just the hair, its also an attitude thing. I think saying hairless bear would throw alot of people off. If i read someone as a hairless bear, I may not even think twice about the ad and keep reading. Just have him put what he likes and how he looks, i wouldnt try to classify himself as something he doesnt resemble

I think the hairless bear is a perfect term for a personal ad. You would think of a hairless bear as a big intimidating looking creature, but vulnerable. He'd be cold, especially during winter. He needs someone to warm him....
Sorry, I just like hairless bears.

I think hairless bear is a good description of him! Cute, witty, self aware.
Physically I'm a bear, but without all the game playing and silliness of the "bear community". I sometimes describe myself as a bear without the baggage.
BTW an otter is a slim furry guy...and one of my favorite types...grrrrr.

If I saw 'hairless bear' in an ad, it would make me laugh, but in a good way. I'd think he was a clever guy with a sense of humour about himself, and I'd read on.
Some people write really stupid stuff in ads; that one's fine.

I worked with a guy that called himself a bear.
I had the same though as you, So... I asked him how he could be a bear with no hair?
He told me it was more of a physical description.
Hope this helps.

I have seen those without hair calling themselves Behrs (yes that's the way it was spelled) and "cubs" or admirers., those being thinner and hairy calling themselves otters, those middle weight and hairy calling themselves wolves.
it all really depends more on the "tude" more than anything else.
