Hi, I'm a gay Asian male...and it seems impossible to find dates, mainly bc of my ethnicity. Look, I know that we are not considered the ideal, attractive partner, but I really wish a few good guys existed that could look beyond this one feature. Actually, a lot of people have told me that I am "cute" (of course they were probably lying), but still...it's impossible. Even other Asian guys would never want to date me....they all automatically go for the White guys. Honestly, I'm afraid of ending up one of those lonely old men who never found love in life. The only guys who have ever expressed interest in me are 50 year old desperate men or guys that have some sort of perverted Asian fetish. It's really depressing sometimes. I even tried online personals, but the vast majority automatically rule me out bc of my ethnicity. Their ethnic preferences are always white or hispanic. I'm thinking I should not be so proactive about dating anymore...just let it happen if it happens?

Hey guy. Don't beat yourself up so much. Maybe you are just looking in the wrong places. There are people out there for everyone. You will see that the Abercrombie types tend to be attracted to the Abercrombie types. The bears are usually with other bears. If people told you that you are cute, you probably are. I know you have a lot to offer and the right guy will come along. Just remember the attraction has to be reciprocal. That's what makes the dating scene hard some times. But it goes beyond the physical. Find a group where you have common interests and mingle with that group. Someone probably has a 'friend' who is gay that you might like. Don't give up. You need to be more upbeat and not sound so depressing. Life is what you make of it. I am single right now and am actually kind of enjoying the break. Good luck.

That's a shame. I think if you're finding that personals and online dating sites are not working because people judge what they want before they've seen you, then you need to get out and about and meet more people, in a social way rather than specifically for dating, so they can get to know you as a person, and see past your ethnicity.
It depends where you live, and what your hobbies and interests are, but I hope you can find a way to do that. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who would love to be with you; it's just a matter of meeting them.

Generally speaking Gays statistically are more racist than the general heterosexual population. Gay Asian men are more distant and can be considered racists and prefer only other Asians or Whites or Latinos (with white complexion)... May Gay Black men would love to date Asians if it wasn t for the Asian closed society, mindset and blatant bigotry as a people.

While I am approaching 50 (turn 45 this week), I am far from desperate and I have dated a couple of Asian guys.

I don't have a fetish for any one type (except maybe otters...see previous question), but I see a lot of Asian guys that I think are hot.

Maybe you're looking in the wrong places.

I hate to say this but I agree with you. I've seen gay men clearly stating their races of preference in personal ads but I haven't come across gay women who do the same. Perhaps the ones whom you are looking for are not exactly in it for the life partner deal?
