I came to know most of the charity run through telemarketing, such as Cancer research society, Aids research, Brest Cancer research etc.. when donating funds, more than 80% goes to the telemarketing company and only less than 20 % really goes to Charity. Is it true or worth donating our hard earned money. Or is there any good place where I can donate.

I have applied in Los Angeles to become a big brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. I would like to hear from current or former big brother volunteers. How has the experience been for you? Please share your opinions with me. Of course the BBBS website always has glorious things to say. But I would like to hear from volunteers on their own. The pros & cons, whatever.

I am on a team, raising money for relay for life and we need to raise as much as possible. I hope to do something where I do not have to purchase any product up front because I have already donated money and now will be donating time...

I need ideas for fundraisers... like volunteering at a resturant and using the tips for the fundraiser... things like that.

any one from here know of any services offered to woman whom are starting over w/ nothing to start over w/? I'm in the typical B.S. relationship w/ the man whom would rather party and gamble, until you want to leave him, then it's all above love and loyalty. Ha! Anyway, years of depression later, I've lost everything, wrecked my credit, let my daughter move in w/ ex- (he's awesome and way better than me, right now) have no job and no money. I have an interview today and a few more set up in the next week but if i stay here much longer he'll work on the sympathy, and convince me to stay. I don't want welfare, nor a homeless shelter because I'm not homeless, Just in a crappy home. I once had a place w/ a very nice lady recommended from a church that had a finished area totally set up for an abused woman trying to start over but like an idiot, I let it go. Any suggestions for here in Grand Rapids. P.S. I'm not a drug user or criminal or any thing like that.

I guess my first question should be about the GPA since that is one of the main requirements to join the chapter. I didn't do too well in undergrad with my GPA. When I realized what I wanted in life, I worked hard at improving my grades (even made the dean's list my last semester). However I wasn't able to pull my GPA up to a 2.5. I was very close. Currently I am back in school getting my MBA and my GPA is a 3.5. Can I use my Grad school GPA instead of undergrad? Secondly, do I have to be invited into the sorority to join? I have tried to contact several people within the chapter and no one will return my calls. What's the next step?

Hi All,
I am helping to put on the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, here in Upland, Ca on June 2 and June 3, 2007. I am currently looking for people who would like to volunteer to help make this event run smoothly. If you don't want to volunteer, no problem, we could always use an extra set of feet, walking around the track. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping out a good cause. If you are please contact me at volunteers_needed@yahoo.com.
Thank You!
