For those in careers ... would you spend your vacation time helping others in New Orleans & Florida?

This was on a TV show this morning and I was just curious about what a YA poll would be.
I think they (TV) said “Cheep Tickets” has vacation packages for those interested and deep discount the flights and accommodations.

Yes, I would! I am from Mobile Alabama, and I have been through my share of hurricanes! Nothing that bad, however!

I think it would depend on what you were doing. I think I'd rather stay home and prepare packages for the next round of disasters. Not that I have forgoten about the people affected but, I think it is possible they will be hit again and worse and I think I would be able to help more people that way rather than go and only be able to help in a more confined area. Also I would be afraid of disease in the area and possibly bringing it home after helping (I have 2 very small children who would have the possibility of infecting many others in areas that are not currently affected.)

While I'd love to say yes, the truth of the matter is that I don't have enough money to spend my limited vacation time working to help someone else get out of poverty. I'm virtually on the edge myself, so I think I'm best off just staying at work.
If it didn't cost me money, and I could take the time off from work without missing a paycheck, I'd say yes.
Since I'm not a good candidate for N.O. & FL, I'll stay here and spend my weekends working with the people in my area who also need help.
