I've been working with local companies to get them to support volunteer events directly by corporate sponsorship.

Several local organizations, like restaurants and retail groups, provide discretionary funds to volunteer groups and other non-profit organizations tied to specific events.

For example, a few of the local restaurant chains will donate a percentage of the evening's proceeds to non-profit organizations and other groups. Another retail group provides goods and services to and cash donations to support local volunteer events.

I've recently worked with a few fundraising parties which included raffles and silent auctions, which were very effective.
