I want to know if there are any simple things a teenager (um... me) can do to help out causes and stuff. Like things against child abuse, Make A Wish, etc.

I participate in the Arthritis Walk each year with a small team. My family and friends are very generous with their donations, but I'd like to increase the amount that I'm able to raise for the charity. My team members are all adults and many have arthritis, so physical events (like a car wash) aren't our best bet. Any ideas which have worked for you would be greatly appreciated!

Then take the best answer & submit them to all of our state reps.
I offer...
Close all non-emergency businesses on Sunday's. The amount of energy preserved would have an enormous effect.

I'm a Hurricane Katrina victim and I'm trying to get my family and I some assistance for Christmas. But most websites are only telling how you can help, not get help. So can anyone tell me where I can get assistance?

I was wondering what age you had to be to volunteer to be a big sister. I am very interested in the program. I already checked the website and entered my information, however, I did not find an age minimum. I thought that somebody who is currently enrolled in the program or had been previously might know. Thank you for your help. :)

I don't understand how this is a charity and where the money goes. These people getting the homes still have to pay. Anyone can get a home with no money down, so that is not a factor. The payments on these homes are regular payments. I know someone who got a home in NC and her payment is only 100 less than my house payment and she got her home ten years ago.

Also, they have no rights to the houses and cannot sell them without paying back.

I don't even get what the big deal is. I think it is mostly the people getting a kick out of building the home for them. Other than that, I would not give any money to it unless I am further enlightened to anything else.

Problems like hunger, illiteracy, disease, hygine can be reduced if the people are educated to volunteer to participate in community developement work. This training for may be part of educational system. There are numerous examples where devoted volunteers have played revolutionary role. There is example of one beautiful young German girl who saw a leoparsy patient in Karachi on road in a bad shape. She took life long decision to eliminate leoparsy from Pakistan and has spent long 40 years of her life quietly without caring for fame or reward. She is successful in her very difficult mission.

My cousin joined the peace corps, and the culture shock of moving from Denver to Morrocco is really starting to weigh on him. As a soldier, I really enjoy getting those "any soldier" packages that kind hearts in the states send out to us military. However, I think the work my cousin does is definitely important to our nation too. Does anyone know any organizations that help out Peace Corps volunteers similar to the way that organizations sponsor Soldiers?

I'd like to give to someone less fortunate than me - can you suggest a good local charity that might need new, tangible goods (toys, gifts, etc.)? Also -- where is a good place to volunteer time? I live in the Main Line area. Thank you!

Okay...I am thirteen and I am determined to help someone this Christmas. I like to buy presents for people that can't afford them...but I can't find any group homes or anything in Virginia. Do you know of any group homes or "orphanages" in Virignia that I can go onto their website and check it out? Thanks a bunch!

We were thinking of having a free-will offering pancake breakfast at our church as a fund raiser. And was thinking, perhaps I should gather the stats first from others who have done this in the past. Can you please share with us your experiences etc. Thanks!
