Yes, I know, a lot of black people name their children traditional Judeo-Christian names. But others use names like "Lastacia" or "Lamika." I've heard some white people insult those names, but I don't understand why. I think they're really pretty.

I mean, I also met a "Leukemia" and a "Placenta," and those are awful.. obviously.. but why do people have a problem with creating names instead of using the same ones people have been using for 2000 years or so?

I like my job, but a friend of my fathers let me know there is an opening in his company and I have the exact expereince they are looking for. I researched the company and this could be a really good opportunity for me at a higher pay then I am making now. I am supposed to call him today, I am assuming he will want to set up an interview with the person I would be working under, but how can I do this when my current job is a 9-5? Do I tell them I have a Dr. appt or somethng like that? I dont want to lie and burn bridges here because I like it and want a good recommendation from them, but dont want to tell them I'm interviewing either. If I do agree to go on the interview and call in sick to work, doesnt that look bad to the company who is interviewing me that I would lie about sick time? How else can I go about this? THank you

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Mark Twain said there are "upwards of a thousand lies" in the Bible. But this is probably the biggest. How many desperate, frightened, broken-hearted parents have watched their children die while begging God to help?

I mean, as per Matthew 7:7....any pious Christian who asks for something earthly will be given it? Or is this NOT TRUE?

So for a dare I made a fake profile of a teacher, I didn't mean to do any harm but I guess I did so now I have to pay...

here's what I wrote so far, another teacher said it was fine just to add mroe details about how and why and when...etc...

Dear ____

Apology

Deciding to make a profile of a teacher seemed fun at first but I didn't think of the consequences. I didn't realize how wrong it was. I intend to apologize for what I did.

I wondered what would happen if someone made a fake profile of someone, a friend suggested it once as a dare but no one went through with it, I did.
I didn't think it would be taken so seriously it was just to prove I could, the information wasn't even that accurate.
I didn't mean to cause any harm with what I did.

I am apologizing for the impersonation I have done and any inconvenience caused, hopefully you will accept my apology.

You can see that parts get omitted and altered, from poor translation, misprints and just leaving out unfashionable bits. My best example would be the changing of 'thou shalt not suffer a poisoner to live', to 'thou shalt not suffer a witch to live' by the King James bible.

So how can it be said that it is 100% the word of god? One bible was notoriously sent into print saying 'thou SHALT commit adultery'. Reading translations of Genesis make it pretty clear that some words only have approximate translations into English.

How many commited Christians actually study older bible texts to compare them? How many compare them to the Torah and Qu'ran? Are you just accepting the latest version as gospel?

(Acts 7:55-56) But he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, and he said: “Look! I behold the heavens opened up and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand.”

So where is God the Holy Spirit?

Revelation 1:1-3
A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John,  who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, even to all the things he saw.

God gave? But Jesus is God.
Who bore a witness to the word God gave? and Jesus Christ gave? How can Jesus Christ who is God give a revelation to someone called Jesus Christ?

(Colossians 1:14-15)  He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation

Jesus is a creation

Since he's omnipotent, he should be able to do all three of them at the same time. Tell me why he does not do that and instead allows suffering when he doesn't have to?

I don't and here is why.

I'm 31. I have never seen a ghost clearly. One has never appeared to me.

By nature ghosts are cowards and do not appear at things like picnics with family and friends where there are 100 people present outside.

Ghost movies always show smoke, dark places, and things that go bump in the night.

Minds play tricks all the time. Movies can influence.

Why is it that ghost stories (shows / reality shows) are always dark, have night vision, smoke, mirrors, cloudy windows, etc. How about CLEAR high definition, in public and witnessed by numerous people....

Always in the shadows.
BOO!

What proof is there that Odin isn't any more valid a god as Yahweh?

When I think of "crusade" I think of the Latin Church attacking Muslims, Jews, Cathars (no big problem there), the Greek Church and eventually Protestants.

If someone calls themself any type of a crusader, isn't that indicative of violence, intolerance, and hate? I almost think the word "crusader" should be considered hate speech.

Opinions? Or am I totally out of it here...

that younger brother gives his big brother at the end of the commercial? I know, but do you? I haven't seen or heard that descripton used in 40 years!

Who can be the first to say what it implies (you'll have to be creative in spelling it out because the key word is on Yahoo's no-no list and would ordinarily be masked out)?
