There should not be an "expected amount". Give what you feel is appropriate. I try to make sure I have at least paid for my meal...most weddings are very expensive. It also depends where you live...CA would be more than most states...Call the reception hall if possible to see how much a wedding is per person, or call several places to find out the average for your area.

You cant put a price on any gift given out of love, you have to stay within your means,Hotshots make very good wedding gifts for 20.00$ It is a despencer that spits out a cup of hot water in seconds for tea coffee or cocoa,I got many thankyous from this gift I have given at 3 weddings. If you can't afford a gift a heart felt card will surfice and if they are offended then you need not keep company with such people that are superficial,(not saying they are though).

My husband and I received cash and checks ranging from $20 to $100 as wedding gifts. We were grateful for all of it! The $20 gifts were given by single people or couples that were just starting out.

depends on how much your plate of dinner was!
i beleive in what goes around comes around!
and my partner and i give over the plate cost!
so if it's open bar, and you get food at least 25 dollars per person most weddings are about 30 for a plate of food per person!
so if you bring someone then at least pay for you food and give 60 bucks
i give 100 bucks i drink more then some there and I don't go to the church place just the food and drinks!

any thing less shows your a cheap skate or your not really knowing how to budget! money well!

more over ifyou have a 2month notice to the wedding!

you ahve enought time to save for it!

ps i'm not that wealthy but I also tip very well too1

Depends on how well you know the person. I would start at $20 to $25. Cash, check, or maybe a gift card at where they are registered.

It depends on how close you are to the couple. Fifty to two hundred dollars is the amount I would give to the wedding couple.

I always give $25.00 if doing cash or check. I think that is a nice amount and is the general rule of thumb. Of course you may give as much as you like if you are able to.

I don't think there's a certain expectation, because incomes and finances vary. Give what you feel comfortable and can reasonable afford giving. Good luck. 2D
