I use encyclopedias and wikipedia, is this a bad source?

it says something about the world being 6000 years old,

"the oceans weren't salty 3000 years ago" stated by a christian earlier

is this true and does this disprove all archaeological evidence that we have found in the ground?

"Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly."
~Isaac Asimov

Do you believe it's possible for someone who has been pronounced dead, maybe dead for 5-15 minutes, to come back and tell about their experience? There are those who have told of having seen Jesus, and others who claim they went to hell. What do you think?

can I just give you guys a (((((((HUG))))))
I sit on here and so often see bad things being said about Christianity ...
however it is usually in defense of something some fundie has said
and there goes a tit for tat all night , back and forth between fundies and " others "
and you guys sit there , probably quite sad that things are being said about you , yet you do not deserve it
we often forget that there is another type of Christian out there , less vocal , more tolerant and respectful
who just follow the teachings of Jesus , the turn the other cheek or love thy neighbour rules

for the " others " .... can we give these guys a hug please ?

"We believe that God designed and created the world, and governs it through natural laws that can be discovered through reasoning, observation, and experience. We feel that God does not reveal himself to us through inspired or revealed texts or by supernatural means, but through creation itself." Excerpt from the Peace Dale Christian Deist Fellowship's web site.

Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open to us.' But he answered, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' Watch therefore, for you know ne

I have heard very few voices in strong opposition to pagan religions at large. Mathematically, I realize that pagans are a small minority within the community, so they naturally produce far fewer questions and answers than do the major religions.

Does this fully explain why I do not witness heated debates concerning paganism? Is this perceivedly moderate level of tolerance of paganism due simply to its low visibility within the public sphere, enabling it to sort of "fly under the radar?"

Or, is there something fundamentally different about pagan worship that discourages opposition from both atheists and monotheists, or at least encourages indifference from these other groups?

For those of you who didn't watch, religious fundamentalist terrorists attacked imagination-land last night on South Park. Today, some of the most highly imaginative R&S users have "died" (been suspended.)

I don't know who "killed" them, but based on the belief systems of those deleted, I would bet money on religious fundamentalists. (I'm not trying to attack religion, I'm just putting forth my own hypothesis as to what happened. If it turns out another group is responsible for the reporting I'll happily apologize to my fundamentalist peers.)

We've lost a cookie monster, a skittle-eating cat, and an Earle, among others. Several R&S users have gone "undercover" to protect themselves. Is our imagination under attack? How do we stop such an attack?

Should we call Chuck Norris?
