It's interesting... a lot of the history, especially the renaissance, was pretty much dominated by gay men, that we still learn about and study today.
If they were openly gay, and it just wasn't suspicions, it'd be interesting how it would play out today. I wonder if we'd still see them in our textbooks... hmm....

Da vinci was gay as a 3 dollar bill , no question . Michaelangelo , of course . Shaekespeare was in love with a youth who used to play girls parts in his theatre . Nijinsky , russian ballet legend . Freda Kahlo the Mexican painter was bi . Gertrude Stein the writer was lesbian . Sappho , the greek poetess is the reason lesbians are called that , her island was Lesbos . Virginia Woolf the writer was bi . and so on . We got a roster of talent to be proud of .
