By the way, I'm not trying to say the bible is full of contradictions, I know there must be a logical explanation...

He means that when they go into an area to evangelise, and someone offers them a place to stay, they are to accept it and stay in one place as long as they're in the locale. That is so people would know where to find them if they wanted to ask more questions, get baptised etc. and also so that false "disciples" wouldn't be cruising around freeloading on the whole town.

In those days they didn't go door to door like today, they would go to a central meeting place like the village market and talk to people there.

You have to consider the whole scripture. Jesus was telling his disciples whom he sent out that when they reached a town, they should stay in the home where hospitality was extended them and not be “transferring from house to house.” They should not be thus seeking a place where the householder could provide them with more comfort, entertainment, or material things.

As these traveling overseers of Jesus' people went from town to town they had to have a place to stay. It was a small thing but needed. Jesus here was saying do not try to trade up; get a better offer from a wealthier house. As this would belittle the original host and might stumble some from following in the "truth".

~~~ Paul ,,, If you do not learn the Symbolism of Mythology and Astrology, you will NEVER understand christian scripture, or ANY other religion for that matter. I wish you the best in your studies. I humbly suggest you try some reading by the late Prof. Joseph Campbell, FYI: Your question regarding "house" is a remnant from previous Revisions which expunged many Astrological References, among other things. "House" is an allusion to the 12 Houses of The Zodiac. ~~ Namaste`
