does anybody know?.. I always wondered that long time ago, and then when I became a church choir member, the question ran into my head again.

Not to sound atheist but a person came to my house and asked me why God caused natural disasters and it made me wonder. If God is our savior and he protects us why did he create something that would cause mass destruction and kill numerous people. Hurricanes that kill thousands, floods that destroy people lives, earthquakes that kill people. To me this seems a little odd to be God's work, don't get me wrong i believe in God and i believe in heaven, i just don't believe that he plays the part that everyone else says he does. They say God heals people, why would he make them sick in the first place. If anyone has any enlightening thoughs on this subject i would be glad to hear why God does it.

the Love between God and Man, or the love between Man and Woman?
I personally think it is God and Man - God loves us so greatly that he made the ultimate sacrifice to bring us to Him for eternity. However, the love returned by man to God can sometimes, or is usually, less than that love between a man and a woman, unfortunately.
What do you think?

right, this is one of those typical philosophical questions but i know theres an answer to it. i consider myself to be atheist or at least agnostic but cant remember how everything could have began. ive heard this explained before in an interview with richard dawkins who has famously written books on atheism.

When the name "Christian" is said around you, what is your first reaction? What thoughts, words, feelings come to mind? Do you see them as hypocrites?

I've got a growing interest in what I'm calling the Christian Label and wondering what your thoughts are about Christians in general. Please say whatever comes to mind. Give definitions or stories if you want to.

Thanks,

John

Please back up what you say with scripture. Otherwise, it will just be opinion.

do you think that in 100 years our youth will stand behind chistian apologetics like:
"well, you have to understand, when god told the jews that the rapists had to marry their victims it was because back in that day women were seen as unclean and that way they were still able to get married"
or "well, those food laws were god's way of keeping the jews from eating poisous foods back then. I mean, i suppose god could have told the jews it was for specific medical reasons why not to eat those things, but they were so primitive back then, so it makes sense that, for all the jews could figure, they were arbitrary commands"

It seems to me that the only reason why todays apologetics even remotely fly with some younger people is that their parents (who are from a much more religiously conservative era) are there to better control their thoughts.
I just can't see things being the same 100 years from now.
not with independent thought growing as much as it has these last few years.

Many of them have eye sight that is impaired with emacular degeneration or cataracts. I just found out my mother, who's 82, doesn't see well enough to pass the drivers test if she had to take it again. I told her she shouldn't be driving. Actually I said to her, "Shame on you for driving and putting innocent people in danger," because she told me she has known this for a long time! But she still insists on driving. My husband and I wouldn't let her drive for a whole year once because she had surgery and her reflexes and medications made it obvious to us that she shouldn't be driving. She put me through hell that year. She was miserable and made me miserable for the entire year. What should I do? Her doctor won't take her license away yet. I feel I did what I should by telling her where I stand and offering to drive her again. Do you think we should make her stop or leave it up to her? It is so hard to know what's right. And what's scarey

Jesus ripped the Pharisees & Sadducees for living by a bunch of non essential rules. Today many "Christians" are doing the same thing.

For example:
Water Baptism - Dunked vs Sprinkled. Don't you think God is looking at a person's heart behind the action?

Which Bible version should we read? Is God big enough to be able to convey to us by the Holy Spirit what he is trying to say through whatever version? Actually, the correct version is the one that you are reading. Is your relationship with the book or the Author?
These are a few obvious ones - there are many more.

The religious spirit (which by the way is a demon) attaches itself to those who choose to live by the letter of the law.

Love covers a multitude of sins.

Christians - be aware of the devises of the enemy of our soul. Our battle is not against people but it is to be directed against the kingdom of darkness through the power of prayer.

Did you read the end of the book? Who wins?

The Judas I'm talking about it the one who betrayed Jesus. If you found Judas in heaven when you got there, right now how would this influence your decision that Judas went to hell for what he did? Would this change your attitude on what we were lead to believe about Judas & the betrayer?

Jesus saw a crowd chasing down a woman to stone her and approached them. "What's going on here, anyway?" he asked.

"This woman was found committing adultery, and the law says we should stone her!" one of the crowd responded.

"Wait," yelled Jesus. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Suddenly, a stone was thrown from out of the sky, and knocked the woman on the side of her head.

"Aw, c'mon, Dad..." Jesus cried, "I'm trying to make a point here!"

What do you think?

of date rape when he was a teen? I saw on TV where a man is challenging the law because he can't attend his child's school play or take him to a playground. Sex offenders are not suppose go near schools or playgrounds. This is an across-the-board law for all sex offenders, regardless of the crime. What say you?

i wonder what he asked?

!note! !this isn’t a question to take seriously!
"please don’t take this so seriously as most of you have done in the past, more less ruining the fun of it."

that goes for both of you who say he doesn’t exist and the ones who say he does.

Ohh also, please don’t give me a really long bible passage that I'm not going to read, thank you.

Like, you wished on a star that you could be like someone you admired, then once you acquired their traits and personality, you regretted it?
